Theoretical and practical issues, along with recommendations and proposals for the sustainable development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Ha Tinh province, were discussed by delegates at the scientific conference.

On the morning of August 29th, in Ha Tinh City, Tran Phu Political School, in collaboration with the Institute of Sociology and Development ( Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics), organized a scientific workshop titled "Sustainable Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Ha Tinh Province". Attending the workshop were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Minh - President of the Vietnam Sociological Association (Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Anh Tuyet - Deputy Director of the Science Management Department (Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics); Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province Le Ngoc Chau; experts, scientists and leaders of several relevant departments, sectors and units. In her opening remarks at the workshop, Dr. Bui Phuong Dinh, Director of the Institute of Sociology and Development, stated: The workshop is a meaningful activity within the framework of the provincial-level science and technology project "Assessing the current situation and proposing solutions for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Ha Tinh province," chaired by the Institute of Sociology and Development (Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics).
Dr. Bui Phuong Dinh affirmed that the impressive economic development achievements of Ha Tinh in the recent period are largely due to the role and contribution of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Dr. Bui Phuong Dinh hoped that delegates would focus on open and frank discussions, proposing feasible solutions to contribute to the sustainable development of small and medium-sized enterprises in particular and to the socio-economic development of Ha Tinh province in general. This would contribute to effectively achieving the province's development goals and orientations as outlined in the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress.
In his opening remarks at the workshop, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau shared information on the province's socio-economic situation and business development. According to him, in the first seven months of 2023, the province established 173 new businesses with a total registered capital of nearly 2,917 billion VND. To date, the province has approximately 8,600 operating businesses, with small and micro-sized enterprises accounting for over 95%.

Affirming the role of businesses in the socio-economic development of the province, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also analyzed the limitations and difficulties faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). To overcome these difficulties and support business operations, Ha Tinh province has focused on leadership, direction, and the issuance of many policies and guidelines... However, innovation and development of businesses require a long process and efforts from many sides.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his hope that at the workshop, business representatives would frankly share their difficulties, obstacles, suggestions, and proposals; and that scientists and experts would continue to provide in-depth and high-quality analyses and assessments of businesses in Ha Tinh. Through this, valuable ideas that are relevant to the province's reality could be derived.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that, after the workshop, the workshop chair should summarize the opinions and suggestions; and at the same time propose and suggest solutions for business development in Ha Tinh, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. This will be an important and practical document and guide for Ha Tinh to apply and implement in the coming stages of socio-economic development with the goal of "Working together to develop businesses in a sustainable direction".
Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy from the Institute of Sociology and Development presented a paper on some viewpoints and policies of the Party and State regarding the development of small and medium-sized enterprises.
At the workshop, delegates shared many ideas clarifying the theoretical basis for researching, developing, and promoting the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in Ha Tinh province in sustainable socio-economic development.
Mr. Le Duc Thang, Chairman of the Ha Tinh Business Association, presented a paper on the topic "Developing small and medium-sized enterprises towards sustainable development in Ha Tinh province".
Assessing the current state of business development in Ha Tinh, many opinions affirmed the contributions of these businesses to the socio-economic development of the province; at the same time, they analyzed the opportunities and challenges in developing and promoting the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in Ha Tinh from now until 2030 and beyond.
Professor Dr. Nguyen Huu Minh - President of the Vietnam Sociological Association, presented a paper at the conference.
The discussions also proposed solutions to relevant ministries, departments, and Ha Tinh province regarding mechanisms and policies to promote the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and to enhance their role in the socio-economic development of the province.
Nguyen Dinh Thinh, Director of BIDV Ha Tinh branch, shared this at the workshop.
Concluding the workshop, Dr. Bui Phuong Dinh - Director of the Institute of Sociology and Development - expressed gratitude for the insightful and responsible contributions from the delegates. These contributions provided a clearer understanding of the current state of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) nationwide in general and in Ha Tinh province in particular; and proposed practical solutions for the sustainable development of SMEs in Ha Tinh province.
Dr. Bui Phuong Dinh stated that the opinions and contributions of the delegates will be compiled by the conference organizers to develop and propose feasible policies for the sustainable development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the future; thereby contributing to overall socio-economic development.
