During the 31st session of the 18th Nghe An Provincial People's Council, some delegates expressed concerns about the qualityof education when a public school admitted students with 2.5 points to enter grade 10, causing a stir. Many people expressed concerns that the low entrance score would affect the quality of education.

Specifically, Nam Dan 2 High School (Thien Nhan commune, Nghe An province) lowered the admission standard score from 9.5 points in the first round to 2.5 points/3 subjects, including priority points in the second round of admission.

In fact, only 1 candidate with 2.5 points passed the second round. During the process of reporting the incident to the Department, the school's Principal also accepted responsibility for the incident. "This is a remote area, there are no private schools, no continuing education centers," Mr. Thanh said.

According to the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An, the enrollment work is not appropriate, between reason and emotion, reason must come first. Mr. Thanh said that it is necessary to consider and orient the child (candidate with low test scores) to study a profession. According to current regulations, when studying at a vocational school, the child will still be awarded a high school diploma.

"In the near future, when the Law on Vocational Education is amended, changing vocational junior colleges into vocational high schools, allowing them to teach high school cultural programs, it will create extremely favorable conditions for vocational schools as well as for the work of streaming after junior high school education," Mr. Thanh informed.

Nam Dan 2 High School's admission score for the second round of 10th grade is 2.5 points for 3 subjects.
