On the afternoon of April 8th, a delegation from the National Assembly Standing Committee, led by Central Committee member, National Assembly Standing Committee member, and Head of the People's Petition Committee Duong Thanh Binh, held a working session with the People's Committee of Dak Lak province regarding the implementation of policies and laws on ensuring traffic order and safety from 2009 to 2023 in Dak Lak province.
Receiving and working with the delegation were the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Pham Ngoc Nghi, and representatives of leaders from relevant departments, agencies, and localities.

According to the report presented at the meeting, Dak Lak province's transportation network has a total length of over 19,700 km, including 7 national highways, 12 provincial roads, district roads, commune roads, and rural roads. The province's river system has a total length of approximately 544 km; and Buon Ma Thuot Airport basically meets the travel needs of the people.
Regarding transportation and transportation support services, the province has 123 freight and passenger transport businesses with a total of 15,042 vehicles; there are 15 bus stations, built under a socialized model meeting standards of type 4 or higher, basically meeting the travel needs of the people. Dak Lak currently has 13 driver training facilities, 4 automobile driving test centers, and 9 locations equipped with automatic scoring systems for practical driving tests in the A1 motorcycle category.
Traffic safety and order maintenance work has been carried out consistently throughout different periods, closely adhering to and meeting the requirements of sustainable development of the country and localities; many policies, solutions, and plans have been implemented and yielded high effectiveness.
Pham Ngoc Nghi, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, delivered a speech at the working session.
Between 2009 and 2023, the province experienced 6,611 road traffic accidents, resulting in 3,946 deaths and 6,095 injuries. Traffic accidents have been gradually reduced across all three criteria: number of incidents, number of deaths, and number of injuries. Inland waterway and air transport have also been kept safe.
Patrols, inspections, and enforcement of traffic laws and regulations have been carried out regularly and continuously, contributing to maintaining traffic order and discipline in the province. The provincial police force has issued 1,589,692 violation reports, temporarily seized 374,505 vehicles, revoked 92,412 driver's licenses of all types, and prosecuted 964 cases involving 962 defendants for violations of traffic regulations.
During the meeting, Dak Lak province proposed to the National Assembly and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly to consider amending and supplementing the Law on Road Traffic to suit the new situation, especially the necessity of enacting a Law on Ensuring Order and Safety in Road Traffic to better ensure security and order in the area, and to ensure the safety of people participating in traffic; it also requested the Government to quickly complete the legal system, promote decentralization and delegation of power, clearly define responsibilities in state management of traffic; and pay attention to budget investment and build mechanisms and policies to mobilize and use resources to build and develop infrastructure and ensure order and safety in traffic…

Speaking at the working session, Central Committee member, National Assembly Standing Committee member, and Head of the People's Petition Committee, Duong Thanh Binh, highly appreciated the sense of responsibility and efforts of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee and relevant departments and agencies in implementing policies and laws on ensuring traffic order and safety. He also suggested that in the future, Dak Lak province should do a better job of disseminating information about traffic culture through various forms to make it easier for people to understand and comply; effectively utilize maintenance and repair funds to protect road infrastructure, ensuring safe and smooth traffic; and effectively carry out inspection, examination, and vehicle registration work.
Regarding the province's recommendations, the delegation will receive and compile them to report to the National Assembly, and at the same time, forward them to the Government and relevant ministries for consideration and resolution in the future.
