Teachers 'complain' they haven't received their salary for 2 months, what do ward leaders say?

Many teachers in Binh Kien ward (Dak Lak province) reported to the Tuoi Tre Online hotline about their delayed salary for the past 2 months.

Reporting to Tuoi Tre Online , a teacher at an elementary school in Binh Kien ward said that the salary has been delayed for 2 months now. Teachers who have questions for the principal were told to wait for a decision from the ward People's Committee.

"We have been waiting for two months now, while my family's main source of income is only salary, so we are having difficulty making ends meet and taking care of our children," the teacher said.

This situation is happening in most schools in Binh Kien ward. A teacher teaching at a secondary school in the ward said that he has not yet received his salary for July and August.

"We don't know the reason yet, but we hope to get paid soon to take care of our lives," said the teacher.

According to many teachers in Binh Kien ward, the delay in salary payment started when the merger and arrangement of administrative units at commune and ward levels and the dissolution of Tuy Hoa city were carried out.

Tuoi Tre Online contacted Mr. Huynh Phuc Tri - principal of Nguyen Viet Xuan Primary School, one of the schools reported to have not paid teachers' salaries for the past 2 months, and Mr. Tri confirmed that there has been a delay in salaries for the past 2 months.

The reason, according to Mr. Tri, is that the treasury requires a decision from the ward People's Committee to appoint the principal and accountant before it can withdraw money and pay salaries to the staff. However, the school has not received those appointment decisions, so it cannot carry out the procedures according to legal regulations to withdraw salary funds.

Mr. Tri said the above decisions were just issued a few days ago, so the school is urgently carrying out procedures to pay salaries to the school's staff and teachers as soon as possible.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thang - Chairman of Binh Kien Ward People's Committee - also said that due to the process of merging and consolidating localities, many procedures had to be carried out, so the procedures for deciding on appointing principals and school accountants were slow, leading to untimely salary payments to teachers.

Recently, the Ward People's Committee has issued these decisions, so the salary settlement for officials and teachers in the area will be implemented soon.
