In his opening speech, Dr. Nguyen Van Tu, Deputy Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, said: Hai Phong is a land rich in tradition, preserving many valuable cultural heritages. The city is also a studious homeland, where many talents for the country are born. The contest not only provides Hai Phong students with knowledge but also a useful playground, learning while playing - playing while learning, helping them love history more, appreciate their homeland's heritage, thereby striving to excel in their studies and life.
The contest had 3 teams from 3 schools: Hoang Dieu Secondary School, Le Chan Ward; Chu Van An Secondary School, Gia Vien Ward and Hong Bang Secondary School, Hong Bang Ward. The preliminary round was held at 3 schools with the participation of nearly 1,000 students, including a writing contest and a speaking contest. In the final round, each team had 5 members, going through 3 rounds: Learning about the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, learning about Hai Phong cultural heritage and Journey to find heritage. The program also had a contest for the audience and cultural exchange performances.
As a result, after 3 rounds of competition, Hong Bang Secondary School won the first prize. The second prize was awarded to Chu Van An Secondary School. The third prize was awarded to Hoang Dieu Secondary School. The Talent prize was awarded to Chu Van An Secondary School and the Style prize was awarded to Hoang Dieu Secondary School.
Sharing the joy after her school team won the highest prize, Tran Quynh Anh, a student at Hong Bang Secondary School, said: We have been preparing for about half a month and today we are very satisfied with our performance. From the process of studying and participating in the competition, we feel that we not only understand more about history but also develop our thinking, critical thinking, eloquence and quick response, build a spirit of solidarity and become more interested in learning.
According to teacher Nguyen Huong Giang, Chu Van An Secondary School, the contest is a useful playground to help students approach History in a vivid and intuitive way. Instead of just learning through books, students can experience and actively grasp knowledge, thereby loving their homeland more, appreciating the value of heritage and being proud of national traditions.
To encourage students to participate in the program effectively, Chu Van An Secondary School organized group activities, guiding them to learn knowledge through pictures, videos , and documents. Students were assigned roles, practiced in teams, combined with handling situations, creating an atmosphere of both learning and playing, creativity and connection.
Highly appreciating the meaningfulness, creativity and educational value of the program, Ms. Huong Giang hopes that in the next seasons, the Organizing Committee can expand the content of the competition, increase practical interactions at the relics and add sideline activities for teachers and parents, so that the program can spread more widely in the community.
The contest "Learning about the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam and Hai Phong Cultural Heritage" aims to help students better understand the cultural values in their homeland; at the same time, promote the tradition of studiousness, respect for teachers, and respect for talents - which are long-standing beauty of Hai Phong, the place that has produced many famous people and outstanding scholars in the history of the nation.
