DNVN - Due to an insufficient understanding of the benefits of energy audits, many businesses only conduct energy audits as a means of complying with government requirements, instead of considering it a solution for saving energy, reducing production costs, protecting the environment, and moving towards sustainable development.
Energy audits in many businesses are not effective.
Energy is becoming a vital issue for humanity as natural resources are gradually depleting. According to experts, current oil and gas reserves will only last for about 60 years, and coal reserves will last for another century. Furthermore, continuous industrial development demands large amounts of energy while simultaneously posing a risk of environmental damage.
Therefore, using energy efficiently and effectively has become an urgent task for Vietnamese businesses on the path to sustainable development.
Implemented over many years, the national target program on energy saving and efficiency has achieved certain successes. However, energy audits have not yet been actively embraced by businesses. The main reason is the insufficient understanding of the benefits of energy audits. Many businesses only conduct energy audits as a measure to comply with government requirements, instead of considering it a solution for saving energy, reducing production costs, and protecting the environment.
Mr. Pham Hoai Trung - Chairman of the GreenGo Advisory Board, Chairman of the Board of Members of Azitech Company, presented a paper at the workshop on finding effective greenhouse gas management solutions organized by AmCham and FedEx on October 16th in Binh Duong .
Energy audit is the process of inspecting, surveying, and analyzing energy flows within a system to identify areas of energy waste and find optimal solutions. In industrial production, energy audit helps reduce energy consumption, maintain or improve capacity and labor productivity, while protecting human health and the working environment.
In reality, the auditing process in many businesses has not been as effective as expected due to several factors, such as a lack of expertise among auditors and a lack of independence in evaluation. In particular, some consulting firms provide both auditing services and energy-saving equipment, leading to biased audit conclusions.
Therefore, energy auditing activities in many businesses today are still only at a superficial level and have not brought about real results in saving energy.
Comprehensive solutions in energy auditing.
At a recent workshop on effective greenhouse gas management solutions organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (Amcham), representatives from Azitech and GreenGo, a sustainable development consulting company, shared high-tech solutions to support businesses in saving and managing energy efficiently, thereby addressing challenges in energy economics.
According to Mr. Pham Hoai Trung, Chairman of the GreenGo Advisory Board and Chairman of the Board of Members of Azitech Company, Azitech's comprehensive energy audit and electricity management solution is opening up many practical benefits for businesses. Optimizing energy helps reduce costs, enhance competitiveness, and meet international standards for environmental protection.
This solution can monitor and analyze the electricity consumption of each machine, calculate the carbon emissions of each device, and help businesses further enhance their competitiveness in terms of electricity.
Mr. Nguyen Hung Viet – a scientific and sustainable development consultant at Azitech Company – shared insights on ESG development orientation, greenhouse gas emission reduction, training trends, and the carbon credit market at the workshop "ESG: Green Transformation in the Textile and Garment Industry - Challenges and Opportunities" in Hanoi on October 24th.
This also includes cost optimization, electrical process optimization, electricity consumption reporting, equipment anomaly detection, carbon emission calculation, and more.
Solutions include energy saving according to ISO 50001, energy audits according to ISO 50001, carbon audits according to Decree No. 06/2022/ND-CP, greenhouse gas emission inventory reports according to ISO 14064-1:2018, developing energy saving and greenhouse gas emission reduction plans according to ISO 14064-1:2018; ISO 14064-2, and support for implementing requirements and methods for determining the carbon footprint of products according to ISO 14067.
Azitech's solution also supports carbon neutrality verification, CBAM reporting, and the identification of the current behavior of energy sources for the purpose of verifying IREC clean energy credits. It identifies the current behavior of energy consumers and greenhouse gas emitters within scope 2 to facilitate continuous improvement processes.
On the sidelines of the event, in an interview with Vietnam Business Magazine, Mr. Trung stated that every journey towards Net Zero, including a crucial stepping stone of carbon credits, must originate from IoT (Internet of Things).
"Only with IoT can we achieve effective energy saving and management. Only with IoT can we monitor, measure, and evaluate the current state and behavior of emissions. And only with IoT can we accurately verify the number of carbon credits generated, brought to market for buying and selling," the expert said.
Mr. Pham Hoai Trung - Chairman of the GreenGo Advisory Board and Chairman of the Board of Members of Azitech Company - participated in a discussion session at the workshop on finding effective greenhouse gas management solutions organized by AmCham and FedEx on October 16th in Binh Duong.
This solution utilizes IoT technology to measure and collect energy consumption data for each machine, calculate carbon emissions, and predict equipment lifespan. Azitech also provides notifications and alerts when electricity consumption exceeds thresholds and detects anomalies, helping businesses minimize risks and optimize production processes.
Azitech's solutions comply with international standards such as ISO 50001 on energy efficiency, ISO 14064 on greenhouse gas emission inventory, and ISO 14067 on determining the carbon footprint of products. These standards not only support businesses in energy saving but also help implement stringent environmental protection and emission reduction regulations.
IoT technology has become the foundation for smart energy solutions, enabling businesses to monitor and manage energy transparently and accurately.
"Through IoT devices, businesses can continuously monitor carbon emissions, ensuring the authenticity of carbon credits issued on the market. Integrating real-time data management software also helps all employees in the organization see the overall picture of energy consumption, thereby encouraging their creativity and self-awareness in reducing emissions," Mr. Trung shared.
"However, to achieve optimal results, businesses need to change their perception, viewing energy audits as an important tool to help them develop sustainably, rather than just a reactive measure," noted the Chairman of the GreenGo Advisory Board and Chairman of the Board of Members of Azitech Company.
In the context of dwindling non-renewable resources, energy auditing is key for Vietnamese businesses to optimize production processes, reduce costs, and protect the environment. Azitech, with its high-tech solutions and the combination of IoT and energy auditing, is making a significant contribution to helping businesses move closer to sustainable development and carbon neutrality in the future.
Mr. Nguyen Hung Viet – a scientific and sustainable development consultant at Azitech Company – shared his insights at the conference "Connecting Hanoi businesses with FDI companies, corporations, and large enterprises in 2024" to help businesses and organizations better understand greenhouse gas management. |
