Nam Ma Hydropower Plant links sustainable development with community responsibility

In recent years, Nam Ma Hydropower Plant in Cao Bo Commune, Tuyen Quang Province has been one of the small hydropower plants that has achieved high efficiency in providing electricity, stabilizing energy sources for the region and the whole country. With a designed capacity of 3.2 MW, the plant has made an important contribution to stabilizing the national grid; at the same time, ensuring the lives and jobs of staff and workers, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development.

Nam Ma Hydropower Plant started construction in 1987. After completion, the plant officially started commercial power generation in 1992, becoming one of the important power sources of Ha Giang province (before the merger). With a designed capacity of 3.2 MW, the plant has met part of the electricity demand, contributing to the stability of the national power system, especially in the context of national energy shortages and difficulties. In 2003, the plant was handed over by the Provincial People's Committee to Vietnam Electricity Development Joint Stock Company for management and operation; hydropower focuses on investing in upgrading infrastructure, repairing and renovating equipment, helping to increase power generation capacity and minimize incidents.

By 2025, the plant's commercial electricity output is estimated to reach 14.5 million kWh, exceeding the plan by 7.4% (13.5 million kWh). This is a proud result, reflecting the continuous efforts of the staff and workers in operating, maintaining and troubleshooting the plant. To achieve this goal, the hydropower plant has continuously improved the professional qualifications of the operating team; applied new science and technology to production; automatic control systems, advanced monitoring and maintenance technology have helped optimize the performance of the units, minimize incidents and increase the life of the equipment. The application of advanced technical solutions has helped increase the availability factor of the units, while minimizing risks during operation.

These achievements cannot be achieved without mentioning the solidarity and efforts of the staff, workers and employees of the factory. The factory always creates conditions for staff and employees to learn and improve their skills and professional qualifications; encourages exploration, research and application of new technologies in daily work, thereby improving work efficiency and helping the factory maintain stable operations. In particular, the factory always focuses on ensuring labor safety, environmental sanitation, fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue; staff, workers and employees are fully equipped with protective equipment and strictly comply with operating procedures, preventing labor accidents, ensuring absolute safety for the factory's operations.

Mr. Nguyen Van Sang, Director of Nam Ma Hydropower Plant, said: Providing stable electricity to mountainous areas not only meets the daily needs of people but also supports the development of local businesses and production facilities. The plant also actively participates in social security activities, helping disadvantaged families, supporting infrastructure construction, and improving the lives of people in the area. These activities not only demonstrate the responsibility of the enterprise to the community but also contribute to building a good image of sustainable development and connection between enterprises and society.
