Hanoi strengthens measures to prevent dengue fever in the community

By the end of August, the dengue fever rate per 100,000 people was highest in the districts of Thach That, Phu Xuyen, Thanh Tri. Currently, Hanoi's epidemic surveillance system confirmed 1 case of dengue fever in Hanoi who died, a 19-year-old male with underlying diseases. During the treatment of dengue fever, the patient's condition worsened, leading to hemorrhagic shock and multiple organ failure. The patient was treated intensively, with continuous blood filtration and mechanical ventilation, but did not survive.

According to the assessment of Hanoi CDC, through monitoring, some dengue outbreaks have been prolonged, with more patients recorded; some outbreaks have recorded insect indexes after treatment higher than the risk threshold, the dengue outbreak situation will continue to develop complicatedly in the coming weeks.

Nationwide, the Ministry of Health reported that in the past 8 months, more than 66,400 cases of dengue fever were recorded in provinces and cities; 15 patients died in the following provinces and cities: Dong Nai (4 cases), Dak Lak and Phu Yen (2 cases each); Binh Phuoc , Binh Thuan, Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa, Kien Giang, Long An and Hanoi (1 case each).

Warning of increased hand, foot and mouth disease as children enter new school year

The Hanoi CDC has warned that hand, foot and mouth disease cases in the city may increase in the coming time when students return to school after the summer vacation. In the last week of August, the number of hand, foot and mouth disease cases recorded in Hanoi increased compared to the previous week, most of which were sporadic and isolated cases, with no complicated outbreaks recorded.
