Hanoi: Students take days off from school in preparation for the 80th National Day parade

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training will let students take days off during the preparation for the 80th National Day parade.

Specifically, schools in the former districts of Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Dong Da, Hai Ba Trung, Cau Giay, Tay Ho, Nam Tu Liem, Bac Tu Liem, Hoang Mai, Thanh Xuan, Long Bien and Ha Dong will decide, based on the actual situation, to let students take time off on the days of joint training (August 21 and 24), the preliminary rehearsal day (August 27), and the parade and march rehearsal day (August 30). Schools will closely coordinate with parents to manage students. Meanwhile, teachers still have to go to school to prepare for the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year (September 5).

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training requires schools in areas where parades and processions pass through to open their doors to serve the people and tourists, providing them with a place to stop, rest, and ensure personal hygiene, respect, and hospitality.

Previously, according to the 2025-2026 school year schedule issued by the Ministry of Education and Training , schools were allowed to return to school at the earliest 1 week before the opening ceremony (around August 29). In particular, students in grades 1, 9, and 12 were allowed to return to school 2 weeks before the opening ceremony (around August 22). Non-public schools also allowed students to gather and prepare for teaching and learning about 2 weeks before the opening ceremony.

Thus, during the preparation activities for the grand ceremony on September 2, many schools have begun to let students return to school.
