On July 18, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuc - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DARD) of Lam Dong province said that the working group of the General Administration of Customs of China has just completed a field survey at a number of large-scale durian growing areas and packaging facilities in Lam Dong province.
A working group from the General Administration of Customs of China inspected a number of Lam Dong durian exporting enterprises.
After three days of survey, the delegation of the General Administration of Customs of China highly appreciated the organization, management and compliance with regulations on durian export in Lam Dong province. Especially the assurance of food safety standards, pest control and clear and transparent traceability.
The delegation acknowledged that local facilities have seriously implemented the requirements on production processes, packaging, traceability and quality control in accordance with the standards set by China. In particular, the one-way packaging process, which absolutely does not use banned substances such as Auramine O, is particularly noted and highly appreciated.
According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province, the whole province currently has more than 42,000 hectares of durian, accounting for about 28% of the country's durian area. Of which, 334 growing areas with more than 12,966 hectares have been granted codes, along with 57 packaging facilities serving official exports, mainly to the Chinese market.
In order to control product quality, from June 2025 to present, the provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection has collected 234 durian fruit samples from growing areas to analyze pesticide residues, heavy metals such as cadmium and lead, and identify harmful organisms. It is expected that in the coming time, 108 more samples will be collected for testing.
At the same time, production monitoring in growing areas is also carried out closely, focusing on cultivation logs, fertilizer and pesticide use in accordance with regulations. Monitoring results from the beginning of the season until now show that all growing areas meet the conditions for maintaining export codes.
Lam Dong durian is ready for export.
The local agricultural sector recommends that farmers and businesses strictly adhere to safe farming procedures, control pests and diseases, proactively analyze chemical residues and absolutely do not use banned substances in the processing and preservation of products. Durian can only be exported when it is ensured that the entire area from growing to packaging has been fully controlled to avoid warnings and temporary suspension of codes from the importing country.
In addition, the authorities also strengthen propaganda and dissemination of plant quarantine regulations and import standards to raise awareness among people and businesses in the production, preservation and export of agricultural products, especially durian.
