Tens of thousands of essential infrastructure works for ethnic minority and mountainous areas

Implementing the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development for Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, over the past 5 years, tens of thousands of essential infrastructure works across the country have been invested in ethnic minority areas.

Thanks to investment, rural traffic in the Kkmer ethnic minority area in An Giang is increasingly improved.

Specifically, the Program has supported the construction of over 6,000 rural traffic works, hardening over 8,670km of roads; invested in 442 electricity works; 90 commune radio stations; nearly 1,790 community activity houses; renovated and upgraded 183 medical stations, equipped 118 more stations and built 225 standard stations. In addition, the Program supported the construction of nearly 630 schools and classrooms; over 985 small irrigation works; 666 other small-scale infrastructure works proposed by the community. In addition, there are over 2,000 infrastructure projects implemented under special mechanisms and 5,484 works maintained and repaired from the Program's funding.

The invested projects have contributed to the formation and connection of regional infrastructure, serving people's lives, production activities, goods circulation, promoting increased access to basic social services, contributing to improving the quality of life for people and changing the face of development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
