Tens of thousands of students in Ha Tinh and Quang Tri temporarily stopped going to school due to floods.

(Dan Tri) - Heavy to very heavy rains in Ha Tinh and Quang Tri provinces have caused many areas to be flooded, forcing tens of thousands of students to stay home from school.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ha Tinh , said that on October 29, 30 and the morning of October 31, heavy rains occurred in the province, causing many areas to be flooded and isolated.

Teaching and learning activities at many educational institutions in this province were forced to be temporarily suspended to ensure the safety of students and teachers.

According to the report, by 9:00 a.m. on October 31, the entire Ha Tinh province had 51/676 educational establishments with 36,768 students, 1,022 classes, mainly in Ky Anh district and Ky Anh town (old), having to stay home from school due to the impact of floods.

Ha Tinh education sector said teaching will be restored as soon as weather conditions stabilize.

Heavy rains in recent days have also caused flooding and landslides in many places in Quang Tri , affecting teaching and learning at schools in the area.

To ensure the safety of teachers and students, many schools in communes and wards affected by floods have proactively temporarily closed.

Currently, all schools in Le Thuy commune have allowed students to stay home from school, some schools are organizing online learning. Dakrong commune has 705 students temporarily not going to school due to isolation, Dien Sanh commune has been flooded with rain and floods causing 6 schools to be inundated, over 2,000 students have to stay home from school.

Floods also affected many schools in Vinh Dinh and Nam Hai Lang communes, leaving over 7,500 students unable to attend class.

Schools in Quang Tri are also closely monitoring the weather situation and have plans for students to temporarily stay home if the flood situation becomes more complicated.

Previously, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri province issued an official dispatch requesting heads of units and schools to closely monitor developments of heavy rain, floods, flash floods, landslides and other dangerous weather conditions to promptly inform and warn teachers, students and parents.
