On the afternoon of January 18th, the first Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) exam of Hanoi University of Science and Technology for the 2025 admissions season took place at testing sites in 13 provinces and cities nationwide with 6,891 candidates participating.
At the Hanoi University of Science and Technology examination center, candidates completed the procedures to enter the examination room very quickly and conveniently. Candidates undergo rigorous checks before entering the examination room, ensuring the exam is conducted safely and in accordance with regulations. Since it was the first exam session, the candidates were relaxed and tried to familiarize themselves with the exam format and testing software. Candidate Nguyen Linh Chi, a 12th-grade student specializing in Mathematics at Bac Kan High School for the Gifted (Bac Kan province), said that she participated in this exam to familiarize herself with the exam format. The second round of the exam will be her official test. "After this exam, if I'm weak in any area, I will focus on studying to improve in the official exam," Chi said. Nguyen Huu Tri, a 12th-grade student from Pham Hong Thai High School (Hanoi), said that he was a little nervous but still confident in this test because he had studied thoroughly according to the sample exam structure. Hanoi University of Science and Technology is the first institution to launch the aptitude test in the 2025 admissions season. The first phase of the test was held over two days, January 18th and 19th. This year, the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's Thinking Skills Assessment Exam has been reduced by three sessions compared to last year. The remaining two sessions will take place on March 8th and 9th; and April 26th and 27th. Candidates take the exam on computers. Speaking with reporters, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Phong Dien, Vice Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said that although the number of exam sessions has decreased, the number of exam teams for each session has increased, so the number of candidates participating in the exam is expected to increase compared to last year. On the first day of the first phase of the exam, 6,891 candidates participated. The total number of candidates for the two exam sessions of the first phase, held on January 18th and 19th, is expected to reach 14,000. The school plans to send the digital version of the first exam results to candidates on January 24th.
To date, more than 50 higher education institutions have used the results of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's Thinking Skills Assessment Exam for admissions. However, according to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Phong Dien, depending on the admissions regulations, each school converts the exam scores to a different scale. Therefore, Dr. Dien advises candidates to carefully research the information during the application process.
