According to Hanoi Trade Corporation (Hapro), to meet the shopping needs of people before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake (2025), the BRGMart supermarket system has coordinated with suppliers to increase Tet holiday goods reserves by 2-3 times compared to other months of the year; ensuring a wide variety of high-quality, safe, and hygienic food products with transparent origins, beneficial to customers' health, and stable market prices. With the theme "Dragons Soaring to the Clouds, Tet Full of Offers 2025," BRGMart supermarket is enthusiastically launching a sales program for the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, running from January 2nd to January 28th, 2025, with thousands of offers up to 50% off.

BRGMart offers a full range of Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) foods, including rice, beef, pork, chicken, seafood, eggs, processed foods, banh chung (traditional rice cake), gio cha (Vietnamese sausage), vegetables, fresh fruits…; Tet agricultural specialties from various regions (bamboo shoots, vermicelli, wood ear mushrooms, spices, etc.), confectionery, nuts, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks…, both domestically produced and imported confectionery and fruit.

Mr. Le Manh Phong, Director of the Northern region of Tops Market supermarket chain (Central Retail), informed that 90% of the supermarket's product range consists of high-quality Vietnamese goods. To serve the consumer needs of people during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, in addition to essential consumer goods, Tops Market also introduces many typical Vietnamese Tet dishes such as banh chung (sticky rice cake), banh pia (mooncake), sausages, and gio lua (pork sausage)... From the beginning of December, supermarkets began implementing the "Vietnamese Specialties for Vietnamese Tet" program with a series of regional specialties such as smoked buffalo meat, smoked pork, dried beef, dried buffalo meat, dried bamboo shoots from the Northwest, various specialty rices, squid, crab stew, yellowfin fish; coconut candy, shrimp crackers...

At Co.op Mart Ha Dong supermarket (Hanoi), Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Dung - the supermarket's director - shared that sales for the 2025 Lunar New Year at the Co.op Mart supermarket system nationwide are expected to increase by about 5% compared to the same period last year. To serve consumers during Tet, the Co.op Mart system has chosen the theme "Come to Co.op, bring Tet home" with a series of unique activities rich in national identity. Accordingly, at 800 sales points of the Saigon Co.op system, including Co.op Mart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, Co.op Smile, Finelife, Cheers, Sense City, and Sense Market, customers will experience traditional Tet spaces, OCOP product stalls, and regional specialties. Especially this year, Co.op Mart is introducing Tet gift baskets made with high-quality Vietnamese products.

"To ensure sufficient goods to meet people's shopping needs during the Lunar New Year, the Co.op Mart supermarket system nationwide has stockpiled approximately 12,000 tons of goods, an increase of 30-50% for each product category compared to a normal business month. Anticipating continued economic difficulties and customers tightening their spending, the supermarket is focusing on stocking essential goods, and selling prices remain stable," shared Nguyen Ngoc Thang, Deputy General Director of Saigon Co.op (the unit managing and operating the Co.op Mart supermarket system).

Not only in supermarkets, but also in traditional markets, Vietnamese goods dominate the product structure. These days, on streets with many confectionery shops such as Hang Giay Street, Hang Buom Street, Duc Vien Market, Hang Be Street, etc., it is easy to see that most of the products on display are supplied by domestic businesses. Explaining the reason why Vietnamese confectionery products are dominant over imported goods, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long, owner of a confectionery shop on Hang Giay Street (Hanoi), said that the consumption of high-end domestic confectionery is still stronger than foreign confectionery because the quality is not inferior but the price is only 50-60% of foreign goods.

According to Ms. Vu Thi Hau, former President of the Vietnam Retail Business Association, in order to compete effectively with imported goods and gain consumer trust, Vietnamese businesses have recently boosted investment in production lines, creating breakthroughs in improving product quality, diversifying product types and packaging... and most importantly, offering lower prices than imported goods. Vietnamese goods are increasingly advantageous because they meet all three criteria: competitive pricing, improved quality, and suitable designs. In the context of a challenging economy, prioritizing Vietnamese goods not only helps consumers save money but also supports domestic economic development.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, to ensure food supply and food safety for Tet (Lunar New Year), the city has issued a program to stabilize the market for essential goods during the end of 2024 and the Tet holiday of the Year of the Snake 2025; and a plan to ensure food safety for the Tet holiday and Spring Festival 2025.

Hanoi City is also continuing to direct the agricultural sector to maintain and develop safe agricultural production, ensuring local supply and connecting and exploiting the supply of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products from 1,327 supply chains of provinces and cities according to the Program of Coordination between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the People's Committee of Hanoi City on "Ensuring food safety, improving the quality and value of agricultural, forestry and aquatic product supply chains between Hanoi City and provinces and cities nationwide in the period 2021 - 2025".

According to Ms. Nguyen Kieu Oanh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, to meet the consumer demand during Tet (Lunar New Year), the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade and businesses have stockpiled goods including 298,350 tons of rice, 59,670 tons of pork, 19,890 tons of poultry, 16,500 tons of beef, 396 million poultry eggs, 331,500 tons of vegetables, 16,560 tons of seafood, 16,560 tons of processed food, 238,500 tons of fruit, and 1,575 tons of confectionery.

According to economic experts, in general, the economic situation is still difficult, so Vietnamese people's Tet 2025 shopping will change in the direction of saving and simplicity. Therefore, retail businesses need to increase stockpiling of goods and organize discount programs to stimulate consumption.
