Corporal Vi Van Toan and Private Dao Duy Anh, trainees of Company 6, Battalion 2, are a pair of close friends in their unit. Vi Van Toan is a trainee selected through a special program, from a remote area with difficult circumstances, and his studies were sometimes disrupted. Duy Anh is an exemplary trainee with excellent academic results. Recognizing the abilities of both trainees, the unit commander assigned Dao Duy Anh to mentor and assist Vi Van Toan in his studies.

During self-study time and breaks, the two trainees exchange and discuss lessons. Thanks to their diligent studying, in the first semester (academic year 2024-2025), both comrades achieved excellent student ratings. In addition, the pair, Van Toan and Duy Anh, actively participate in the unit's extracurricular activities, such as the "Trainee Dance Group," the "East Gate Band," and other dance and sports activities. Private First Class Dao Duy Anh shared: "Seeing Comrade Toan improve his studies, I am very happy that I can help my comrade progress. Besides that, I have also learned a lot of training and practice experience from Comrade Toan."
Over the years, the "Pairing Students for Progress" model has been maintained and implemented by the Party Committee and command of Battalion 2 in all companies. This involves pairing students so they can help each other progress in their studies. After each lesson, those who have mastered the knowledge will exchange ideas, answer questions, and assist those who do not understand. This exchange to review the day's lessons helps supplement each other's knowledge, thereby promoting learning and fostering cohesion within the unit. Colonel Vu Tri Thuy, Battalion Commander of Battalion 2, stated: "Through many years of managing students, I have found the 'Pairing Students for Progress' model to be very practical and effective. Students of the same age easily share and empathize with each other, thus positively impacting each other's learning and training process."
Currently, the "Pairs of Students Progressing Together" model is regularly maintained in the companies of Battalion 2. Through weekly and monthly meetings, unit commanders check and evaluate the progress in learning of each pair of students; and promptly commend outstanding pairs of trainees.
With its clear effectiveness, the "Partners in Progress" model contributes to improving the quality of learning and training, strengthening teamwork and cohesion within the unit. This is also a highlight in the emulation movement for good learning and rigorous training at the Political Officer Training School.
