Coach Huynh Quoc Anh and the confrontation with his hometown team

(NLDO) - Coach Huynh Quoc Anh was assigned to lead Binh Phuoc Club to defeat Da Nang Club in the 2024-2025 Bia Sao Vang Play-off match to win a place to participate in the V-League.

Huynh Quoc Anh is a former famous player in Vietnamese football. At the peak of his career, the former midfielder, born in 1985 and originally from Da Nang, was nicknamed the "whirlwind" on the wing of Vietnamese football.

After arriving at Binh Phuoc Club, Coach Huynh Quoc Anh was entrusted by the club's management with the position of "head coach," replacing his colleague Nguyen Anh Duc. Ironically, Quoc Anh had to lead the team to defeat Da Nang Club – his hometown team – in the Bia Sao Vang 2024-2025 Play-off match for a ticket to participate in the V-League 2025-2026.

Sharing his feelings about facing his former team, Coach Quoc Anh said: "I am a son of Da Nang, so of course I always love and care about my hometown. But in football, I always prioritize professionalism to fulfill the team's mission. Therefore, I am determined to help Binh Phuoc achieve its goal of qualifying for the V-League."

The young strategist also assessed Da Nang FC as a team with a rich history and numerous achievements, making them a formidable opponent. However, he and his Binh Phuoc FC players have thoroughly studied their playing style and prepared countermeasures for the match at 6 PM on June 27th at Thong Nhat Stadium.

Goalkeeper Tan Truong will compete against his younger colleague Bui Tien Dung.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Bui Tan Truong expressed: "I have participated in many domestic matches and also played in two promotion play-off matches, so I am very familiar with matches of this nature. As a professional player, I always try my best to help the team achieve its goals."

Speaking about the team being offered a bonus of up to 10 billion VND if they win the match, the former Vietnam national team goalkeeper said that this creates great motivation for the players. In addition, the goalkeeper from Dong Thap added: "Pressure is unavoidable, especially in decisive matches like this. The whole team has prepared thoroughly throughout the year. The players just need to go out there, execute the coaching staff's tactical plan, and give their all to fulfill their mission."
