“We are very happy to have qualified for the semi-finals, but the team's goal doesn't stop there; we aim for a higher position. The whole team will fight their hardest in tomorrow's match. The players have prepared well tactically, physically, and mentally, so I believe we will have a good game,” Coach Kim Sang Sik shared at the press conference on the afternoon of December 14th.

The Vietnam U22 team will play against the Philippines U22 in the semi-finals of the 33rd SEA Games tomorrow afternoon, December 15th. Previously, in an interview with Dan Tri newspaper, coach Kim Sang Sik stated that among the semi-final opponents, he hoped to face the Philippines U22 team. And that wish has now come true.
“In terms of personnel, many players have returned, which has improved the team's organization. Although we won 2-1 previously, there's no guarantee for tomorrow's match. However, the whole team is well-prepared and ready to fight for victory,” said coach Kim Sang Sik about the U22 Philippines team. At the U23 Southeast Asian Championship last July, U23 Vietnam defeated U22 Philippines 2-1 in the semi-finals.
Although eager to face the U22 Philippines, coach Kim Sang Sik did not underestimate his opponent: “Tomorrow’s match will be very difficult for both teams, as everyone is determined to win. The team that is better prepared physically and mentally will have an advantage. Our opponent has clearly improved in terms of organization and personnel, so the Vietnamese team must prepare even more thoroughly. The players, including Van Khang, are aiming for a higher goal. Regardless of how the match unfolds, the whole team will fight with all their might for the honor of the Vietnamese national team and the fans.”
Attending the press conference with coach Kim Sang Sik, captain Khuất Văn Khang said that the Vietnam U22 team is not under much pressure before the semi-final match, despite facing a very strong opponent. “The whole team has prepared thoroughly since the beginning of the tournament and will enter tomorrow's match with confidence. The less-than-ideal results at the SEA Games 32 are a valuable lesson for the Vietnam U22 team. Reaching the semi-finals means facing strong opponents, but we are ready,” he shared.
Responding to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper about whether the Vietnam U22 team had prepared for the possibility of playing extra time against the Philippines U22 team, Van Khang said: "Whether we play 90 or 120 minutes, we will do our best for the fans. On behalf of the whole team, I would like to thank the fans for their enthusiastic support. We hope to receive even more encouragement and support tomorrow."
