BTO - On the afternoon of May 24th, the Provincial Veterans Association held a conference to review the association's work during the first six months of the year and to outline the direction and tasks for the last six months of 2024.
In the first six months of 2024, the various levels of the association proactively and effectively implemented the key tasks assigned by the association and the Party committee. Notable among these were charitable activities, helping each other reduce poverty, improve living standards, and contribute to the socio -economic development of the locality. Accordingly, the association built and repaired 9 houses, worth 345 million VND; and donated over 5,700 gifts, worth over 1.8 billion VND, to members, policy beneficiary families, and people in difficult circumstances during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year).
From internal mutual economic support funds, entrusted loan capital, job creation capital, and loans from the Rural Development Bank, 5,639 jobs have been created, contributing to the achievement of poverty eradication targets. By the end of June 2024, the number of poor households is projected to be 132, a decrease of 18 households compared to the beginning of the year, representing a 12% reduction in the poverty rate; the number of near-poor households is 267, an increase of 8 households and a decrease of 7 households; the number of average households is 7,430, representing 40.44%; and the number of well-off and wealthy households is 10,535, representing 57.36%.
In addition, the Veterans' Association at all levels mobilized its members to actively participate in the "National Security Protection Movement," preventing and combating crime and social evils. They coordinated 86 patrols involving 579 members to maintain security and order, ensuring safety during holidays and festivals. They also collaborated with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in various agencies, localities, and units to organize 37 campaigns to educate over 5,600 students and young people about the Party and State's policies, patriotic traditions, the sea and islands, and major national holidays.
At the same time, propaganda and encouragement were provided to 1,647 young men who had been selected for military service to enlist, meeting the province's 2024 recruitment quota...
During the conference, delegates discussed and clarified outstanding achievements in the association's work, pointed out difficulties and obstacles encountered in carrying out tasks at the grassroots level, and made proposals to relevant authorities for future support.
Accordingly, in the last six months of 2024, the Association at all levels will organize activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the Vietnam Veterans Association's traditional day; organize the Congress to summarize the "Exemplary Veteran" emulation movement for the period 2019-2024 (October) and the 2024 "Veterans" singing festival at the provincial level (September); organize and direct the Association at all levels to inspect association work; inspection and supervision work; social supervision and criticism work; and economic inspection, entrusted loan management, etc.
