Da Nang students enthusiastically learn about road traffic safety laws

(NLĐO) – The 2024 "Understanding Road Traffic Safety" competition has created a useful and practical playground for thousands of high school students in Da Nang .

On November 30th, the Da Nang City Traffic Safety Committee, in coordination with the Da Nang City Department of Transport and the Da Nang City Department of Education and Training, organized the "Understanding Road Traffic Safety" competition in 2024.

Innovate the methods of propaganda.

The competition featured 28 teams and over 1,400 spectators, all high school students from across the city. As soon as the starting signal was given, the contestants from each team enthusiastically competed, focusing on answering the challenging questions posed by the organizers.

Over 1,400 high school students in Da Nang participated in the preliminary round of the "Understanding Road Traffic Safety" competition in 2024.

Accordingly, this year's "Understanding Road Traffic Safety" competition in 2024 aims to disseminate knowledge and skills for handling situations to participate in traffic safely; especially culturally appropriate behavior when participating in traffic; as well as to learn about the public bus system operating in the city.

The competition consists of two rounds: a preliminary round and a final round. The format includes a quick multiple-choice test with suggested answers and a debate on a topic related to traffic culture.

The teams anxiously awaited the results from the organizers.

The preliminary round is taking place today (November 30th). The final round will be held on December 7th, featuring the 7 teams with the highest scores from the preliminary round. The teams will compete in the same format as the preliminary round to determine the first, second, and third place winners.

The "Understanding Road Traffic Safety" competition in 2024 aims to innovate and strengthen the dissemination and education of traffic safety laws in Da Nang City, especially to educate high school students about the Law on Road Traffic Safety and the Road Law, which will come into effect on January 1, 2025.

Every student is an advocate.

Participating in this competition, Phung Khanh Linh (a student from Nguyen Hien High School) enthusiastically stated that the competition is not only a useful and practical extracurricular activity but, more importantly, it helps high school students understand the legal regulations on traffic safety.

"From there, it helps us raise awareness and a sense of compliance with traffic safety laws, build and strongly spread a traffic culture so that every day we go to school and return home safely for ourselves, our loved ones, and the community," Linh expressed.

Leaders from the Da Nang Department of Transport and the Da Nang Department of Education and Training presented commemorative flags to the participating teams in the competition.

Through this competition, with innovative communication methods and diverse formats, especially the public speaking competition on "Traffic Culture" by the students, the organizing committee hopes that each student will become a traffic safety advocate, contributing to building a traffic culture and urban civilization.

According to Mr. Bui Hong Trung, Director of the Da Nang City Department of Transport, the "Understanding Road Traffic Safety" competition aims to provide opportunities for students to learn about traffic safety regulations, share knowledge and traffic culture, and understand the responsibility of each individual in complying with traffic safety regulations to ensure safety for themselves, their loved ones, and the community.

According to the Director of the Da Nang City Department of Transport, with the theme "Respecting the law to build a safe traffic culture," the aspects of traffic culture in the 2024 Traffic Safety Year are expressed through behaviors that adhere to social norms, such as showing consideration and helping each other, among road users.

It is also a cultured and lawful way of behaving, considering voluntary compliance with traffic safety regulations as a traditional moral standard and a manifestation of modern civility when participating in traffic.

"Therefore, the Road Safety Awareness Contest is coming to high schools to accompany students in learning about traffic safety regulations, sharing knowledge and traffic culture so that each student can enhance their personal responsibility in complying with the law and protecting their own safety and the safety of the community," said Mr. Bui Hong Trung.
