Region 1 includes the northern mountainous provinces (10 provinces): Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan , Tuyen Quang, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Son La.
Region 2 includes provinces and cities in the Northern Delta and midland (15 provinces and cities): Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang , Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Quang Ninh.
Region 3 includes the North Central provinces (06 provinces): Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue.
Northern Region 8 includes active duty soldiers stationed from Thua Thien Hue province and beyond of units A09, C01, C10, C11, K01, K02.
In addition, students of the Cultural School register to take the exam and participate in the selection process with candidates in the Region that the local police send to the Cultural School.
