The Director of the Department of Industry and Trade also informed about the natural conditions of Lai Chau province, the potential and advantages in the fields of agriculture, forestry, tourism, trade, services, etc. Accordingly, as a province with a large agricultural land area (accounting for 71%), Lai Chau province has formed and developed a number of large-scale concentrated commodity production areas such as tea, cinnamon, macadamia. In addition, Lai Chau province has over 11,000 hectares of rare medicinal plants, such as Lai Chau ginseng, Amomum, Cardamom, etc. In recent years, Lai Chau province's agricultural products have focused on perfecting processes and quality standards, developing in the direction of concentrated commodity production, meeting the needs of domestic and international markets; to date, the province has had 226 OCOP products achieving 3 stars or more.

Import and export activities through Ma Lu Thang - Kim Thuy Ha Border Gate continue to be maintained. The total import and export turnover of goods through Ma Lu Thang - Kim Thuy Ha Border Gate from January 2024 to May 22, 2025 reached 29.6 million USD... In recent times, trade cooperation between Lai Chau province (Vietnam) and Yunnan province (China) continues to be maintained, the authorities of the two sides regularly exchange through the form of sending diplomatic notes, organizing online and direct conferences, and phone calls to jointly remove difficulties and obstacles to promote the development of border trade between the two sides.

To strengthen cooperation in the fields of agriculture, trade and tourism between Lai Chau province (Vietnam) and Yunnan (China), creating favorable conditions for the export of goods through the Ma Lu Thang - Kim Thuy Ha border gate pair in the coming time, Lai Chau province proposed a number of cooperation contents that the two sides need to pay attention to: Early designation of the Ma Lu Thang - Kim Thuy Ha border gate pair for the import and export of agricultural products, fresh fruits, aquatic products, and medicinal herbs of the two sides; allowing Lai Chau province's advantageous products such as cardamom, turmeric, cardamom, ginger, sugarcane, bananas, etc. to be officially exported to the Chinese market.

At the same time, the two sides will accelerate investment in infrastructure construction, focusing on the construction of multi-purpose bridges in accordance with the Agreement on the Regulations on Land Border Management between Vietnam and China. Soon organize the announcement of upgrading the pair of Ma Lu Thang Border Gate (Vietnam) - Kim Thuy Ha (China) to become an international border gate pair. Promote cooperation in tourism development; build and form tours based on the advantages of each locality.
