From the National Target Program on Socio -Economic Development for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2025 period, Thuong Minh Commune has invested more than 1 billion VND to improve the land and plant 20 hectares of new midland tea. People are supported with organic fertilizers, and participate in training courses on techniques from care, harvesting to processing and packaging, creating a foundation to improve product quality right from the initial production stage.
Mr. Hoang Van Hung, Head of Pac Chi Tea Cooperative, said: Technical training and unified production processes have helped the cooperative's tea products build a reputation in the market. Thanks to the consumption linkage, all 12 member households, including poor and near-poor households, have a more stable source of income, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction.
Economic efficiency is clearly shown through the value of the product. Mrs. Dam Thi Tot, in Khuoi Coong village, said: Previously, dry tea was only sold for 80 thousand VND/kg, now the price has increased to 110 thousand VND/kg. The family's area of more than 1,800 square meters of tea, when cared for according to standard processes, gives consistent quality and higher productivity.
As a locality with a tradition of tea production, Thuong Minh possesses a large raw material area, cool climate and nutritious soil, creating the distinctive flavor of local tea varieties. Tea trees are closely associated with the economic and cultural life of the people. In recent years, the locality has attracted many investment resources, effectively implementing projects to improve and enhance the quality of tea areas.

According to Mr. Ly Xuan Truong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuong Minh Commune, the success of the program lies in the change in production thinking. People have shifted from growing tea based on experience to growing goods associated with quality control. The whole commune currently has more than 460 hectares of tea. With support in varieties, techniques, processing and branding, tea is affirming its position as a key crop, bringing increasingly high economic value.
The story of Mrs. Dam Thi Linh's family in Ban Lai village is a clear example. On an area of 2,000m2 of Shan Tuyet tea and green tea, the family processes 200-300kg of dry tea each year. This income helps improve their lives, and at the same time contributes to spreading effective methods from the model to the community, encouraging many households to boldly innovate care and processing processes to increase the value of tea.
Not only a source of income, tea trees also contribute to preserving indigenous cultural values, from farming practices to the lifestyle of the highland people. From small-scale, fragmented production, Thuong Minh is gradually forming a professional tea area, creating a foundation for sustainable poverty reduction and building new rural areas in a substantial and in-depth direction.
