According to the VNA special correspondent, on the occasion of attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin (China), on the afternoon of September 1st, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Japarov, and SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev.

During the meetings, leaders of countries and international organizations congratulated Vietnam on the 80th anniversary of its National Day on September 2nd; highly appreciated the first-time participation of high-level Vietnamese leaders in the expanded SCO summit; affirmed their desire to further promote multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and its partners; and expressed their admiration for Vietnam's socio -economic development achievements, believing that Vietnam will achieve its important development goals.

During his exchange with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the President of Mongolia expressed his warm feelings towards Vietnam and emphasized that Vietnam is Mongolia's "third neighbor" and a leading important partner in Southeast Asia. The Mongolian leader affirmed that he had personally witnessed Vietnam's impressive development and expressed confidence that Vietnam would achieve double-digit growth. He hoped that both sides would continue to strengthen substantive cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, defense, and security, and effectively implement important cooperation agreements signed recently, commensurate with the new level of bilateral relations; he also invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to visit Mongolia soon.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that the two sides coordinate cooperation in key areas such as the exploitation and processing of essential minerals; create favorable conditions for the import of agricultural products from both countries into each other's markets; and continue to cooperate closely and support each other on international and regional issues of common concern.

During the meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Pakistani counterpart Shehbaz Sharif, the two leaders agreed to continue promoting visits and contacts at high levels and other levels. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his desire for Vietnam to play a bridging role in further promoting cooperation between Pakistan and the Southeast Asian region.

In a meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed his appreciation and desire to strengthen the good friendship between the two countries through promoting the exchange of high-level delegations and all levels; and enhancing coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums.

President Sadyr Japarov expressed his readiness to facilitate Vietnamese businesses investing in Kyrgyzstan, especially in the fields of minerals, construction, and solar power development; affirmed mutual support in international forums; and invited the Prime Minister to visit Kyrgyzstan at a suitable time. Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, investment, culture, education, security, defense, and people-to-people exchanges.

SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev expressed his pleasure at meeting Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and thanked him for attending the conference as a guest. Mr. Yermekbayev stated that this year's conference theme is sustainable development, reflecting the SCO's desire to address socio-economic issues, not just security as initially planned. He expressed his affection for Vietnam and its people, noting that he has visited Vietnam many times.

Thanking SCO Secretary General Yermekbayev for his sentiments and inviting him to visit Vietnam soon, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the position and role of the SCO in contributing to peace, cooperation and development of the region and the world, as well as the theme of this SCO Summit.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam's active, proactive, goodwill, and responsible participation in SCO activities will contribute to strengthening the role of multilateralism and international law, including the United Nations Charter, for a stable and prosperous environment, and for equal and mutually beneficial cooperation in the region and the world.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that the two sides coordinate to promote cooperation between the SCO and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), hoping that the SCO will support ASEAN's central role in the evolving regional structure./.
