According to a special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on the occasion of attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin City (China), on the afternoon of September 1, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and SCO Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev.

At the meetings, leaders of countries and international organizations congratulated Vietnam on the 80th anniversary of its National Day on September 2; highly appreciated the fact that Vietnamese senior leaders attended the SCO expanded summit for the first time; affirmed their desire to further promote multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and its partners; and expressed their impression of Vietnam's socio -economic development achievements, believing that Vietnam will achieve the important development goals set.

In his meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the President of Mongolia expressed his good feelings towards Vietnam and emphasized that Vietnam is Mongolia's "third neighbor" and a leading important partner in Southeast Asia. The Mongolian leader affirmed that he had witnessed Vietnam's impressive development and believed that Vietnam would achieve its double-digit growth target. He hoped that the two sides would continue to strengthen substantive cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, defense, security and effectively implement important cooperation agreements signed in recent times, commensurate with the new level of relations between the two sides; and invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to visit Mongolia soon.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides coordinate to implement cooperation in key areas such as exploitation and processing of essential minerals; create favorable conditions for agricultural products of the two countries to be imported into each other's markets; continue to cooperate closely and support each other in international and regional issues of mutual concern.

At the meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Pakistani counterpart Shehbaz Sharif, the two leaders agreed to continue promoting visits and high-level contacts. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hopes that Vietnam will play a bridging role in further promoting cooperation between Pakistan and the Southeast Asian region.

In a meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed his appreciation and desire to strengthen the good friendship between the two countries through promoting the exchange of high-level delegations and at all levels; enhancing coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums.

President Sadyr Japarov expressed his willingness to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Kyrgyzstan, especially in the fields of minerals, construction, and solar power development; affirmed mutual support at international forums; and invited the Prime Minister to visit Kyrgyzstan at an appropriate time. The two sides agreed to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, investment, culture, education, security, defense, and people-to-people exchange.

SCO Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev expressed his pleasure to meet Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and thanked him for attending the conference as a guest. Mr. Nurlan Yermekbayev said that the theme of this year's conference is sustainable development, demonstrating the SCO's desire to address socio-economic issues, not just security as originally planned. He expressed his affection for the country and people of Vietnam, saying that he had visited Vietnam many times.

Expressing his gratitude to SCO Secretary General Yermekbayev and inviting him to visit Vietnam soon, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the position and role of the SCO in contributing to peace, cooperation and development of the region and the world, as well as the theme of this SCO Summit.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam's active, proactive, willing and responsible participation in SCO activities will contribute to enhancing the role of multilateralism and international law, including the United Nations Charter, for a stable and prosperous environment, for equal and mutually beneficial cooperation in the region and the world.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that the two sides coordinate to promote cooperation between the SCO and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), hoping that the SCO will support ASEAN's central role in the evolving regional structure./.
