
According to the Deputy Head of the Civil Defense Command, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City, the exceptionally heavy rain and floods have caused 32 out of 40 communes and wards of the city to be deeply flooded; especially the low-lying areas along the Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon system. Currently, the rivers have cut the flood peak, but the flood is receding slowly. It is forecasted that from the evening of the same day until the morning of October 29, the flood on the Huong River will still maintain the alert level 3. The flood on the Bo River is likely to fall below alert level 3.
According to the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue city, in the face of the complicated flood situation, 10 days ago the city has regulated lakes and dams to reduce capacity to ensure safety. Up to now, the city has not been able to calculate the damage caused by this particularly large flood, because the flood is still too high. Initial statistics show that the city has many river banks, coastlines, roads... eroded due to floods.

By 10:00 a.m. the same day, the water level on the Bo River was at 4.83 mm, 0.33 m above alert level 3. Previously, the flood on the Bo River set a new record at 5.25 m, while the flood peak in 2020 was 5.24 m. The water level on the Huong River was at 4.58 m, 1.08 m above alert level 3. Previously, the flood on the Huong River peaked at 5.05 m - the second highest level ever, after the historic flood in 1999 of 5.81 m.
It is forecasted that from now until the morning of October 30, in Hue city there will be heavy rain, very heavy rain; total rainfall in the plains will be 150-300mm, in some places over 400mm; in mountainous areas 200-400mm, in some places over 600mm.
