Tay Son District joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses: A symbol of solidarity and compassion.

With a determination to leave no one behind, Tay Son district has achieved its goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households and people with meritorious services. 278 new, spacious houses have been built thanks to the joint efforts of the entire political system, the business community, and the people.

Mobilize all resources to build new houses.

April 2025 marks a significant milestone for Tay Son district as it completes the goal of eliminating 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households, people with meritorious services to the revolution, and relatives of martyrs. 278 spacious and sturdy houses have been newly built or renovated, not only helping people settle down and make a living but also reinforcing their unwavering faith in the humane policies of the Party and State that stand alongside the people.

The "Joining Hands to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses" emulation movement has been implemented extensively and systematically in Tay Son district. The Steering Committee, from the district level down to the communes and towns, has proactively engaged in the effort, meticulously reviewing each beneficiary and mobilizing resources from the budget, social contributions, and preferential loans from the Social Policy Bank. The total implementation cost exceeded 39.5 billion VND, including 14.1 billion VND from the state budget, nearly 5 billion VND from social contributions, over 17 billion VND in matching funds from the people, and over 3.2 billion VND from policy loans.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh, Chairman of the Tay Son District People's Committee, shared: “The movement to eliminate temporary housing is not only a social welfare task but also a symbol of solidarity and compassion of the entire political system and community. Every brick, every roof was built with the sharing and joint efforts of officials, Party members, people, and businesses inside and outside the district. We are proud to have completed the goal ahead of schedule with quality exceeding requirements; all newly built and renovated houses meet the criteria of the new rural development program .

The movement is not just about numbers; it also illuminates countless humane and emotionally rich stories. A prime example is the family of Mr. Dinh Lach (in Kon Giot 2 Village , Vinh An Commune), a poor household. Previously, his old, dilapidated house leaked and peeled during every rainy season. This year, thanks to government support of 60 million VND, district support of 20 million VND, and a preferential loan of 100 million VND from the District Social Bank , his family has built a sturdy tiled-roof house of over 60 m².

Overwhelmed with emotion on the day of the new house's inauguration, Mr. Lach shared: "Without the support of the government and the community, my family wouldn't know when we could have built this house. From now on, rain and wind will no longer be a fear. We are grateful to the government and the community for helping us change our lives."

Not only Mr. Lach's family, but hundreds of other families also shared the same joy. These new homes not only provide people with safe shelter but also motivate them to work and produce with peace of mind, striving to escape poverty sustainably.

Let's work together to eliminate temporary housing.

To ensure the movement's success, Tay Son district flexibly and creatively mobilized various resources. For example, Takao Binh Dinh Joint Stock Company provided construction materials at a 50% discount to 17 households in Binh Thanh commune . Organizations and associations such as Phu Phong Power Company, Phuong Linh Petroleum Company, and the 3rd Golden Star Division also participated by sponsoring funds or providing labor, directly assisting many households in building new houses.

Chairman of the Tay Son District People's Committee, Nguyen Van Khanh, emphasized: "Tay Son recognizes that stable housing is the foundation for people's economic development and stable lives. Eliminating temporary housing is a political responsibility and a heartfelt commitment of the entire political system to policy beneficiaries, poor households, and disadvantaged households. This success is the result of close leadership, decisive action from the district to the grassroots level, and especially the companionship and sharing of the entire society."

According to statistics, all 278 houses were built on schedule, meeting the required structural standards: solid foundation, solid frame, solid roof, with an average area of over 60 square meters per house . . In addition, many households also received support with essential items, including a set of household furniture such as beds, round tables , chairs, and fans, which the district raised funds to donate to each family; raising the total amount of additional support beyond the budget to hundreds of millions of VND.

The movement to eliminate temporary housing in Tay Son also yielded many valuable lessons: It is necessary to stay close to the grassroots, thoroughly review the target groups, ensure transparency in the review process, mobilize all social resources, and have close cooperation between the government and the people throughout the implementation process.

Entering a new phase, Tay Son district continues to promote social welfare programs, focusing on developing livelihoods for poor and near-poor households, helping people not only have sturdy housing but also stable lives, aiming for sustainable poverty reduction.
