International Coconut Industry Conference - CocoNext 2026 (scheduled to take place on December 12-13), with the theme: "Connecting and enhancing the coconut industry value chain - Creating sustainable growth momentum".

The event is expected to open a new approach for the Vietnamese coconut industry, especially in the Mekong Delta, to create a sustainable development future, enhance the value chain and integrate globally.

The total production value of the coconut industry in 2025 is estimated at 4,180 billion VND.
The total production value of the coconut industry in 2025 is estimated at 4,180 billion VND.

The province's key industry

The province has identified coconut as a key crop. By the end of 2025, the whole province will have about 119,270 hectares, leading the Mekong Delta region and accounting for nearly 50% of the country's coconut acreage. In particular, there are about 36,000 hectares of industrial coconut produced according to organic standards (USDA, EU, China, JAS, Kora...).

In addition, there are 156 codes for fresh coconut growing areas (11,012 hectares) and 17 codes for coconut packaging facilities that have been granted codes by Chinese Customs that are eligible to export to the market.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province has about 183 enterprises producing and processing coconut products. The production value of the coconut processing industry in 2025 is estimated at about VND 4,000 billion, up 3.9% compared to 2024, accounting for 7.5-8% of the province's total industrial production value. Coconut export turnover in 2025 is estimated at about 500 million USD, up 2.9% compared to 2024.

Mr. Lam Van Tan - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment said that the current market for coconut products is very good, exporting to more than 50 countries, especially large markets such as the US, EU, Middle East, Japan... In addition, organic coconut products are popular in high-end markets. Many coconut products have been certified with international standards (HACCP, ISO, Organic, Halal...) and OCOP from 3-5 stars, affirming the position of the product in the market.

With the global coconut industry entering a new growth cycle, the demand for organic, green and traceable products is increasing. The Provincial People's Committee chaired working sessions with Ben Tre Import-Export Joint Stock Company (Betrimex) on coordination in preparing for the International Coconut Industry Conference - CocoNext 2026.

Unlike conventional workshops, the event is designed with the long-term goal of forming a continuous dialogue mechanism between farmers, businesses, government and international organizations. The program does not stop at the scale of a workshop, but is a strategic dialogue platform to create a sustainable future for the coconut industry.

According to Mr. Pham Hong Duong - Deputy General Director of Betrimex, CocoNext 2026 is built on the foundation of multilateral cooperation, where the values converge and resonate between: State - farmers - scientists - enterprises - banks. This is also an opportunity for domestic coconut enterprises to share technology, solve the problem of planning raw material areas and develop the market. The growth of the coconut industry in the province in particular and Vietnam in general cannot come from the will of one unit alone but requires "extended arms" from the business community, joining forces to improve the competitiveness of coconut trees.

Enhance the value chain

According to Mr. Duong, the province has great advantages to become the "super coconut material region" of the country. Through CocoNext 2026, it is expected to establish a new position from a simple material region to a "trade gateway" and a focus for attracting green investment capital. The goal is to "transform" Vinh Long into the deep processing technology capital of the region, contributing to promoting the shift of the value chain and increasing added value. This is the way for Vietnamese agricultural products to establish a new price level and compete fairly in the international market.

Through CocoNext, it is expected to establish a new position for the province's coconut industry.
Through CocoNext, it is expected to establish a new position for the province's coconut industry.

“Positioned as a summit of the Vietnamese coconut industry, we expect CocoNext 2026 to be a forum for localities to share a common vision, shifting from a fragmented production mindset to a large-scale and concentrated raw material planning. Especially for farmers, they will see themselves not only as raw material sellers, but also as the starting link of the global value chain. Thereby affirming that we are ready for the big playground with technological capacity, green standards and sustainable commitment,” said Mr. Duong.

Mr. Chau Van Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that the workshop is an important opportunity to affirm the Vinh Long coconut brand and attract new investment resources. "Inviting coconut industry enterprises to participate in this workshop is very necessary, in order to create opportunities for connection, cooperation and investment to jointly build a community of coconut industry enterprises in the province to develop in a sustainable direction. Thereby, promoting international cooperation, promoting trade and exporting Vietnamese coconut products to the world..." - Mr. Chau Van Hoa emphasized.

According to Betrimex Deputy General Director - Pham Hong Duong, the exhibition area will provide an overview of the smart ecosystem for the future coconut industry. Thereby, introducing a tightly integrated model between Agtech (agricultural technology) - Foodtech (food technology) - Fintech (financial technology). The goal is to demonstrate how technology and data can "green" the value chain, from optimizing raw material areas, making production processes transparent to creating sustainable financial solutions for farmers.
