(Dan Tri Newspaper) - On a 3km stretch of road, a male ride-hailing driver was asked by a passenger to pull over at a roadside convenience store while she waited to buy something. At the end of the trip, the reactions of both the female passenger and the driver surprised netizens.

"Please accept this, you're like my child. Please accept it to make me happy," the female passenger said, slipping 20,000 dong into the hand of the ride-hailing driver. However, the young man repeatedly refused, saying, "It's okay, I can help you."

The way the female passenger and the male driver behaved warmed the hearts of viewers (Image taken from the clip: Provided by the subjects).

Seeing the passenger's persistent pleading, the young man finally agreed. The clip, capturing this scene, was posted on social media, attracting over 700,000 views and tens of thousands of interactions. The owner of the clip, Phi (22 years old), said he recorded this scene a few days ago on a bus trip from District 3 to District 1 (Ho Chi Minh City).

At that time, he had agreed to give a female passenger a ride for a distance of 3km. The fare of 16,000 VND had been paid by the customer through an online application. Along the way, the woman suddenly asked him to pull over at a roadside convenience store to buy something for a few minutes.

The male driver didn't think much of it and went along with the passenger's request. Upon arrival, the female passenger unexpectedly tipped him 20,000 VND, but Mr. Phi refused.

"It was a short distance, so waiting for her a little while was fine. I work in the service industry, so these things are minor," he shared.

When the passenger tried to persuade him and shared that he considered him like a son, the driver was moved and accepted the tip to please the passenger.

"I've been doing this job for over a year, completed more than 9,600 rides, and met many kind people. One day I took a passenger from Ho Chi Minh City to Long An and received an extra 250,000 VND as a tip. The most memorable experience was when I had a motorbike accident; a female passenger dropped everything and took me to the hospital," Phi confided.

However, the young man said that there have been many times when customers have treated him disrespectfully, refused to pay, or even harassed him. Nevertheless, because he needed to make a living, he accepted it and continued his work.

Lately, the market has become so competitive that he has to work 12-14 hours a day, completing 28-35 rides, just to earn enough money to cover his living expenses and save some money.

"I don't have a university degree, so it's difficult for me to get a high-paying job. I plan to go to vocational school next year to get a more stable job. Therefore, I have to work hard to earn a lot of money to achieve that goal," Phi said.

In the comments section of the video, many people praised Phi's behavior towards customers.

"It was just a small gesture, but the driver scored points in the customer's eyes. There are many grumpy, rude drivers, making it difficult for customers to talk to them or ask for help. If you provide good service, customers will naturally tip you or at least give you a 5-star rating," one social media user commented.
