The trend of intra-regional Asian tourists continues to shape Vietnam's tourism growth in 2024. Specifically, the total demand from international tourists to Vietnam in the first six months of the year increased 1.7 times compared to the same period last year.

This is the assessment of Klook, Asia's leading e-commerce platform for travel experiences and services, in its report evaluating the Vietnamese tourism landscape in the first half of 2024.
According to Klook, data from the platform shows that total demand from international tourists to Vietnam in the first six months of 2024 increased 1.7 times compared to the same period in 2023. Northeast Asian markets such as South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong were the main drivers of growth, accounting for nearly half of all bookings to destinations across Vietnam on Klook.
Of these, Taiwan continues to be one of the markets with the highest growth rate in visitors to Vietnam, increasing fourfold compared to the same period last year.
Strong growth was also recorded from tourists from Southeast Asian countries, with Indonesia leading the way with a six-fold increase in demand for tourism to Vietnam, followed by the Philippines with a 3.5-fold increase.
Notably, Klook also recorded a doubling of demand for travel to Vietnam from the US market in the first half of 2024, indicating a strong recovery in this key source market.
Destinations such as Da Nang, Hanoi , Phu Quoc, Ha Long, and Ho Chi Minh City continue to attract a large number of international tourists. In particular, Hanoi leads in growth with a threefold increase in bookings compared to the same period last year, while Phu Quoc recorded a significant 2.5-fold increase.
With the current growth momentum, and with the peak international tourism season approaching in the final months of the year, the tourism industry is likely to achieve its target of welcoming 17-18 million international tourists this year.
