Asian visitors to Vietnam were the most numerous in the past four months, reaching nearly 6 million, an increase of 26%. European visitors came in second, reaching more than 1 million, an increase of more than 21%. Next were American visitors, reaching 428,000, an increase of nearly 9%. The General Statistics Office said that favorable visa policies, enhanced tourism promotion programs, and the organization of major national holidays have attracted a continued increase in the number of international visitors to Vietnam.

International experts assess that Vietnam has more and more factors contributing to the miraculous growth of tourism, but the increasing number of direct flights from other countries to Vietnam is the leading factor.

From 2023, Vietnam will introduce a new e-visa policy, allowing visitors to stay for up to 90 days - 3 times the previous limit, visa exemption for visitors from 16 countries including France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Spain... which is considered the second factor stimulating international tourists to come to Vietnam.

In addition, the increasing presence of world- leading hotel brands in Vietnam is also a factor attracting tourists. In addition, the fact that many Vietnamese dishes are listed in the Michelin Guide helps Vietnamese cuisine to be recognized globally, and attracts international tourists to explore the cuisine.

Bloomberg commented that Vietnam is emerging as the third most visited country in Southeast Asia with 17.5 million international visitors last year - surpassing Singapore, behind Malaysia with 25 million visitors and Thailand with 35 million visitors.

Vietnam is currently setting an ambitious target of welcoming 23 million international visitors this year. By March 2026, when Long Thanh International Airport comes into operation, Vietnam expects to welcome 25 million international visitors in 1 year.

According to the General Statistics Office, in March, foreign visitors to Vietnam reached more than 2 million, an increase of nearly 29% over the same period last year. In the first quarter, our country welcomed more than 6 million international visitors - an increase of nearly 30% over the same period last year and a record high.
