Mr. Bang said that he always believes that if you're going to do something good, you have to try your best no matter how difficult it is. "When I rushed into the fire, my only thought was to save lives," Mr. Bang said.
Earlier, the fire broke out in the early morning of May 30th in Phu Luong ward, Ha Dong district, Hanoi.
The house where the fire occurred was a three-story building, a combination of residential and rental properties. The flames spread across an area of approximately 20 square meters. A column of black smoke rose rapidly from the fire, engulfing the entire building.
Upon discovering the incident, Leng Van Bang climbed onto the roof of the house next to the fire and clung to a lightning rod to climb further. He held onto the wire with one hand and used a rock with the other to smash the railing on the third floor of the house. "I smashed with all my might hoping to create a gap for the two girls to escape," he recounted.
After climbing up twice, the man managed to carry the two girls down onto the corrugated iron roof of the neighboring house, and then others helped bring them safely to the ground.
After about 3 minutes of firefighting, the police brought the fire under control. The Ha Dong District Police reported that nine people escaped the fire. Of these, two were rescued by residents and three by the police.
Additionally, four people escaped on their own through the emergency exit to the neighboring house.
