Construction begins on the Nam La Reservoir Construction Project.

Leaders from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the People's Committee of Dien Bien province performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the project.

The Nam La Reservoir project, part of the Ban Phu - Nam La Reservoir Cluster Project, has a total investment of VND 998 billion, of which the Nam La Reservoir itself accounts for VND 509.385 billion. Located in Muong Nha commune, Muong Nha district, the project includes: a Level II headworks; an irrigation water diversion system; and auxiliary works. The reservoir has a capacity of 2.43 million , comprising: an earth dam, a spillway with sluice gates, a water intake structure, an irrigation water diversion system, a construction and management road, and a management building. Upon completion, the project aims to provide irrigation water for approximately 1,800 hectares of agricultural land and supply drinking water to about 25,000 people. The project is of great importance to the development of agricultural production and socio-economic development. To curb uncontrolled migration and stabilize political security and social order in the province. The construction period for the reservoir is 30 months.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep acknowledged the local authorities' efforts in land clearance. He also requested that relevant departments of the Ministry, the investor, construction contractors, and supervisory consultants urgently and intensively focus their resources and equipment to implement the project, ensuring technical requirements, project safety, and completion within the committed timeframe. He emphasized the need to resolutely combat corruption, negative practices, and waste.

The Deputy Minister requested the People's Committee of Dien Bien province to continue creating favorable conditions, providing support, and coordinating with the Ministry in the implementation of the project. In particular, he urged them to accelerate the progress, complete the project early, and put it into operation by the end of 2025, meeting the expectations of the local government and people in the project area. Following this project, the People's Committee of Dien Bien province and Muong Nha district should continue to invest in developing the Nam La Lake area into a park, tourist area, and resort to serve the lives of the local people.

On behalf of the provincial leadership, Comrade Lo Van Tien emphasized that Dien Bien province is committed to closely coordinating with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to direct the investor, relevant departments and agencies, and the People's Committee of Muong Nha district to create the most favorable conditions and resolve the procedures and obstacles arising during the project implementation as quickly as possible, for tasks and responsibilities within the local authority's jurisdiction.

The construction contractor is mobilizing machinery and personnel to begin construction.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep and the People's Committee of Dien Bien province presented gifts to the people of Muong Nha commune, Muong Nha district.
