Construction of Long Thanh airport cargo terminal to begin in January 2025

Many bidding packages of Component Project 3 - Essential works in the airport of the Long Thanh International Airport Construction Investment Project Phase 1 are being urgently carried out to start construction in the first quarter of 2025.


In the report sent to the State Steering Committee for important national projects and works, key to the transport sector on the progress of implementing Component Project 3 - Essential works in the airport of the Long Thanh International Airport Construction Investment Project Phase 1, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) said that currently, many bidding packages are being prepared for implementation.

Many bid packages of Component Project 3 Essential works in the airport of the Long Thanh International Airport Construction Investment Project Phase 1 are being implemented.

Accordingly, the construction and equipment supply and installation of wastewater treatment facilities have completed the technical design documents for technology updates. The Project Management Board is preparing a report to submit to the investor for approval of the policy.

It is expected that the bidding documents will be issued in the fourth quarter of 2024. In November, the technical design documents will be completed and the selection of construction contractors will be prepared.

For the construction and equipment installation package of cargo terminal No. 1 and the remaining auxiliary works, ACV is coordinating with the consulting unit to explain and complete according to the opinion of the Department of Construction Investment Management.

ACV has also contacted and provided documents to relevant units to complete the appraisal work as required.

It is expected that the approval of technical design and selection of contractors for cargo terminal No. 1 and auxiliary works will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2024, construction will start in January 2025 and be completed before August 2026 (construction period 18 months).

The investor is also completing legal procedures to approve technical design documents for the construction and installation of equipment for the parking garage project.

Bidding documents are expected to be issued in November 2024. Contractor selection and construction are expected to begin in January 2025 and be completed by August 2026.

Regarding the construction and equipment installation package for the port management building and the construction and equipment installation package for the security checkpoint, emergency rescue and firefighting center, medical center and other projects, according to ACV, the technical design and cost estimates have been completed and submitted to the Department of Construction Investment Management ( Ministry of Transport ) for technical design appraisal.

Of which, both packages are expected to complete technical design approval in December 2024. Construction bidding is expected in January 2025, construction will start in March 2025 and be completed before August 2026.
