"This project presented many challenges in the casting process, because the characters in the film are quite young, yet their lives are incredibly rich and profound. Therefore, the actors had to be suitable for the roles, appropriate in age, and able to portray the inner depth, fitting the dramatic events of fate and the story's content," said producer Hoang Quan.

According to director Tran Huu Tan, the project is both a challenge and an opportunity for him to prove himself in making unique, high-quality films that still capture the essence of Vietnamese folk culture.

"I've always believed that film is one of the best ways to promote Vietnamese culture to young audiences, just as Korean cinema has done so successfully," director Tran Huu Tan commented.

"Strange Tales of the Ly Dynasty" has left a lasting impression on many readers thanks to its skillful use of Vietnamese historical materials. The author, Phan Cuong, whose real name is Phan Chi Hieu, is widely loved by readers for his sharp, vivid writing style and his ability to recreate historical settings through a mesmerizing lens, with a captivating plot and intense, haunting intellectual battles.

"Seeing my story on the big screen would be an exciting experience. Making this into a film would be incredibly challenging for the team. But knowing that director Tran Huu Tan and producer Hoang Quan will be at the helm, I believe they will grasp the essence of my story," Phan Cuong confided.

This film project marks the first collaboration between ProductionQ and CJ HK Entertainment.
