For young people from ethnic minority communities, entrepreneurship is not only a means of livelihood but also a way to seize opportunities, keep pace with the digital age, and transform cultural identity into a competitive advantage. It is also a journey of self-affirmation, contributing to the development of their communities and rural areas in border and mountainous regions.
Recognizing this, the Youth Union at all levels has proactively participated in building a digital government and a digital society, while focusing on enhancing the digital capabilities of its officials, members, and young people. Training programs in digital skills, community digital transformation teams, and youth digital economy models have been widely implemented. In addition, the Youth Union and Youth Association have strengthened coordination with businesses and social organizations to create a favorable environment and support young people in starting businesses.
Despite receiving support and attention, the entrepreneurial journey of young people from ethnic minority groups still faces many difficulties. The biggest obstacles remain a lack of knowledge, capital, digital skills, and a reluctance to embrace innovation.
At the seminar "Ethnic Minority Youth Starting Businesses and Developing the Economy in the Technological Era" held in Tri Ton commune, Ms. Truong Thanh Thuy - Deputy Director of the Youth Activities and Youth Entrepreneurship Center, and Vice President of the Provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association - shared: "What makes many young people hesitate is not a lack of opportunities, but rather fear and reluctance to step out of their comfort zone, fear of sharing ideas for fear of losing their 'brainchild'." According to Ms. Thuy, capital, technology, and market connections are not lacking. The important thing is that young people must be confident, open-minded, and dare to think and act to turn ideas into products. The Provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association, along with other Youth Union and Association organizations, is implementing many practical solutions such as providing unsecured loans ranging from tens to hundreds of millions of dong; legal and technical consulting; and connecting products with consumers.
According to the Provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association, each year the association organizes numerous training courses, inviting experts to provide direct guidance to each business model, while also supporting product sales. Products made by young people from ethnic minority communities, ranging from agricultural products and handicrafts to innovative digital products, are introduced and promoted at major events inside and outside the province. These activities not only help them expand their markets but also contribute to spreading the unique cultural values of ethnic minority communities to a wide range of consumers both domestically and internationally.
Sharing his thoughts on the digital economy, content creator Le Phat Dat from An Giang province believes that with 87.6% of Vietnamese people using the internet, opportunities to participate in the digital economy are equally available to everyone. Young people from ethnic minorities have the advantage of unique culture, customs, and cuisine , which are "golden resources" for creating engaging content on social media. "If you want to become a digital content creator, start today. Don't be afraid of failure, because that's the lesson that will help you succeed in the future," Dat said.
In 2025, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union will continue to implement a series of programs to support entrepreneurship, such as the entrepreneurship counseling day, the national youth entrepreneurship forum, and the rural youth entrepreneurship project competition. In particular, the "Youth Entrepreneurship" journey will be organized in three regions: North, Central, and South, with activities including skills training, product promotion, and the application of artificial intelligence in business, prioritizing support for ethnic minority and mountainous youth – those who are gradually asserting their capabilities and intelligence in the digital age.
