For ethnic minority youth, starting a business is not only a way to make a living but also a way to seize opportunities, keep up with the digital age, and turn cultural identity into a competitive advantage. It is also a journey of self-affirmation, contributing to the development of communities and rural areas in border and mountainous areas.
Realizing that, the Youth Union at all levels has proactively participated in building a digital government and digital society, while focusing on improving digital capacity for cadres, union members and youth. Digital skills training programs, community digital transformation teams, and youth digital economic models have been widely deployed. In addition, the Youth Union and Association have strengthened coordination with businesses and social organizations to create a favorable environment and support young people to start businesses.
Despite support, the entrepreneurial journey of ethnic minority youth still faces many difficulties. The biggest barriers are still the lack of knowledge, capital, digital skills and fear of innovation.
At the seminar "Ethnic minority youth start-up, economic development in the technology era" held in Tri Ton commune, Ms. Truong Thanh Thuy - Deputy Director of the Center for Youth Activities and Youth Entrepreneurship, Vice President of the Provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association shared: "What makes many people hesitate is not the lack of opportunities but the fear, not daring to step out of the safe zone, afraid to share ideas for fear of losing their "brainchild". According to Ms. Thuy, capital, technology and market connections are not lacking today. The important thing is that young people must be confident, open, dare to think, dare to do to turn ideas into products. The Provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association and Youth Union and Association organizations are implementing many practical solutions such as supporting unsecured capital from tens to hundreds of millions of VND; legal and technical advice and connecting product consumption.
According to the Provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association, each year, the association organizes many training courses, invites experts to directly guide each business model, and supports product consumption. Products made by ethnic minority youth, from agricultural products, handicrafts to digital creative products, are introduced and promoted at major events inside and outside the province. These activities not only help them expand their markets but also contribute to spreading the unique cultural values of ethnic minority communities to a large number of consumers at home and abroad.
Sharing about the digital economy, content creator Le Phat Dat, from An Giang, said that with 87.6% of Vietnamese people using the internet, the opportunity to participate in the digital economy is shared equally among everyone. Ethnic minority youth have advantages in culture, customs, and unique cuisine , which are the "golden materials" to create attractive content on social networks. "If you want to become a digital content creator, start today. Don't be afraid of failure, because that is the lesson that will help us succeed in the future," said Mr. Dat.
In 2025, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union will continue to implement a series of programs to support startups such as the startup consulting festival, the national youth startup forum, and the rural youth startup project competition. In particular, the "Youth Startup" journey will be held in 3 regions of North - Central - South, with activities of training skills, promoting products, applying artificial intelligence in business, in which priority is given to supporting ethnic minority and mountainous youth - those who are gradually asserting their bravery and intelligence in the digital age.
