Mother prosecuted for beating 1-year-old child to death

Through an autopsy, the Binh Duong Police Department determined that NHGA (over 1 year old, biological child of Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao Thao) died due to external force leading to a ruptured liver and small intestine. She was taken to the hospital late on May 16.

According to the investigation, Thao worked as an employee at a karaoke bar in Ben Cat Town (Binh Duong), and lived with her sister in a rented room in Tan Dinh Ward (Ben Cat Town). Thao had two children (over 1 year old and 3 years old).

Police took Thao's statement.

On the evening of May 16, Thao returned from work at a karaoke bar after drinking beer. Thao lay under the hammock where NHGA was sleeping.

Then, NHGA woke up and cried. Thao tried to put her to sleep but the baby kept crying so Thao hit her with her hands many times until she stopped crying.

At around 11pm on May 16, Thao woke up and saw that baby NHGA was no longer breathing, so she asked someone to take her to the hospital, but the doctors confirmed that the baby had died.
