The incident buried or swept away 11 houses of the Ca Dong ethnic group. Thanks to the timely and drastic direction of the local Party Committee and authorities, all 11 households with more than 50 people were safely evacuated, no one was injured, no household had to live in the open or go hungry.
Informing VNA reporters, Chairman of Tra Tan Commune People's Committee Le Minh Chien said that due to early forecasts of the risk of flash floods and landslides, from the morning of October 27, Tra Tan Commune People's Committee directed the Civil Defense Command and local forces to go to each house to mobilize and support 11 households living along Tak Mun stream to move to live with relatives and villagers who have solid houses. "Thanks to proactive early relocation, when the landslide occurred, the stream water rose, houses were buried and swept away by the water, but more than 50 people of the 11 households mentioned above were all safe," Mr. Le Minh Chien added.
Learning from previous years, before this year's flood season, Tra Tan commune stockpiled food in residential areas and encouraged people to proactively stock up on food and essential foodstuffs enough for 7-10 days in case of isolation due to heavy rain, traffic landslides, and inability to travel. Thanks to that, households affected by floods are still guaranteed enough food and necessities. "On the morning of October 28, local authorities visited and encouraged people whose houses were completely destroyed by landslides, and provided instant noodles and other essential food items for people to use," Mr. Le Minh Chien added.
"After the floods end, Tra Tan commune will soon have a plan to arrange residential land and include households whose houses were damaged by landslides in the list of households receiving State support to build new houses so that people can soon stabilize their lives," affirmed Tra Tan Commune People's Committee Chairman Le Minh Chien.
Da Nang police promptly rescued people in the flood.
Da Nang City Police just promptly rescued three people whose boat capsized in Dien Ban ward.
According to initial information, on the afternoon of October 28, three people were rowing a boat to buy food when they encountered strong floodwaters, causing the boat to capsize. All three people clung to an electric pole waiting for rescue. At this time, a canoe of the Youth Shock Force of the Da Nang City Police Department passing by for relief discovered and promptly rescued them.
Also on the afternoon of October 28, on Dong Truong Son road (through village 2, Tra Doc commune, Da Nang city), a serious landslide occurred, burying an excavator driver. Accordingly, at about 3:20 p.m., Mr. LVT (born in 1983) drove an excavator to the area with signs of landslide to level and clear rocks and soil to ensure traffic. While working, a large piece of soil from the positive slope suddenly collapsed, sweeping the excavator and Mr. T. down the cliff. Immediately after the incident, Tra Doc commune police and regular forces for natural disaster prevention and search and rescue were present, coordinating with local people to urgently deploy rescue work.
Authorities pulled the victim out of the mud, provided first aid, and transferred him to the Commune Health Center for treatment. Mr. T.'s health is now stable.
