Boat carrying 9 people to a funeral capsized, 1 person missing

On the evening of October 28, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, Chairwoman of Dien Ban Ward People's Committee (Da Nang) said that a boat capsized in the area, leaving one person missing.

According to initial information, at 4:30 p.m. the same day, a boat carrying 9 people on its way back from a funeral encountered an accident in the rushing waters of the old Dien Phuong ward (now Dien Ban ward). Upon receiving the news, the authorities, rescue teams and local people organized a rescue operation to search for the victims. By 6:30 p.m. on October 28, 8 people had been rescued and were in normal health. Currently, the forces continue to search for one missing person.

It is known that due to the heavy rains that have lasted for the past few days and the discharge of floodwaters from upstream hydroelectric reservoirs, low-lying areas downstream of Da Nang city have been deeply flooded, with strong currents making it very difficult and dangerous for people and vehicles to travel.
