According to data from the Cuba-US Economic and Trade Council, the value of US exports of essential agricultural and food products to Cuba in the first five months of 2024 reached 175.711 million USD, higher than the 123.188 million USD in the same period in 2023.

Statistics show that in May alone, the export turnover of agricultural products and food from the US to Cuba increased by 30.7% compared to the same period last year, reaching 34.611 million USD. Of which, the value of chicken products (meat, thighs, frozen meat) reached 23.514 million USD, powdered milk was 3.129 million USD and fertilized chicken eggs for incubation and fresh eggs reached 1.12 million USD.

In addition, after nearly half a year of suspension, Cuba has re-imported medical products from the US, including penicillin and insulin; ultrasound scanning equipment; artificial limbs; medical devices; surgical equipment used in dentistry and ophthalmology; catheters and gelatin capsules.

Since 2000, the US has allowed its businesses to export food and foodstuffs to Cuba as an exception to the embargo policy, but still does not allow transactions through banks and requires payment under the Trade Sanctions Reform and Export Regulation Act (TSREEA).
