On the afternoon of January 15th, a signing ceremony for the project to promote energy transition took place in Hanoi between two functional units of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and GIZ.
The signing ceremony took place between the Electricity Regulatory Authority, the Electricity and Renewable Energy Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) and the German International Cooperation Organization (GIZ).

The TEV project aims to promote the development of a long-term energy transition strategy, including a solid legal and regulatory framework, as well as the transfer of technological knowledge to facilitate a low-carbon, environmentally friendly energy transition.
The project will create harmony among ongoing energy activities in Vietnam through: (1) utilizing the expertise of stakeholders in Vietnam to make policy recommendations; (2) learning from the experiences of other countries in developing energy transition strategies; (3) analyzing the socio -economic impacts of different energy transition scenarios; and (4) promoting interdisciplinary collaboration such as: heating, industry and transportation.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Trinh Quoc Vu, Deputy Director of the Electricity Regulatory Authority, stated that the Energy Transition Promotion (TEV) project will contribute to improving the legal and technical regulations to support the energy transition process in Vietnam. This project has been approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and authorized by the Electricity Regulatory Authority and the Electricity and Renewable Energy Department for implementation. This event marks an important milestone in the implementation of the TEV project, thereby strengthening the partnership between Vietnam and Germany. In the future, both sides need to work closely together to effectively and promptly implement the planned activities , and it is hoped that GIZ will provide maximum resources to ensure the project's successful implementation.
Sharing more about the project's implementation, Mr. Tang The Hung – Deputy Director of the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy – stated that the project's implementation is of paramount importance, given Vietnam's rapidly increasing energy demand and the need to ensure national energy security in line with international commitments.
Mr. Hung hopes that the project will support state management agencies in perfecting the legal framework and technical solutions; help raise awareness among businesses; and help businesses access green finance during the transition process.

According to GIZ representatives, the TEV project will implement activities aimed at achieving results such as: enhancing the capacity of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in developing strategies and implementing energy transition regulations through consulting, assessment, analysis, scenarios, and models; promoting the sharing of new knowledge on technological solutions supporting energy transition, including training, technological solutions, and environmental impact assessments.
