Clarifying the system of documents of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem

This is an important activity in a series of tasks serving the construction of a scientific dossier to submit to UNESCO to honor the cultural celebrity Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of his death (1585 - 2035).

On the afternoon of December 6, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Institute of Literature and the Institute of Han-Nom Studies (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences ) to organize a scientific workshop on "Identifying and appraising the text of the work of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem".

The workshop was attended by a large number of scientists, experts, researchers of literature, Han - Nom and representatives of professional agencies, professional associations, universities, educational institutions of the Central Government and Hai Phong city.

In his opening speech, the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism affirmed: Nguyen Binh Khiem is an outstanding cultural celebrity of the nation, leaving behind a rich system of works including Han poetry, Nom poetry, prose, prophecies, edicts, letters and many important works.

However, through historical changes, the number of circulating documents has many different versions and errors; identifying, appraising and standardizing documents has become an urgent need for scientific research and heritage preservation.

The workshop focused on discussing four major groups of issues: theoretical basis and methods for assessing the works of Trang Trinh; identifying and classifying the system of works through genre groups; evaluating controversial texts such as Nguyen Binh Khiem's ​​Nom poetry or the "Trang Trinh Prophecies" and proposing research, compilation and publishing directions in the coming period to ensure scientificity, accuracy and educational and cultural values.

Within the framework of the conference, the Organizing Committee received 15 presentations from prestigious scholars. Many reports had outstanding academic value such as: "Some issues of Chinese and Nom poetry texts of the famous person Nguyen Binh Khiem" (Associate Professor, Doctor Trinh Khac Manh); "Trang Trinh talks about the name of Vietnam" (Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Ta Nhi); "Scholar Nguyen Binh Khiem - Identifying a cross-cultural Vietnamese intelligence" (Dr. Cao Viet Anh); "Some issues of Nguyen Binh Khiem's ​​works" (Dr. Pham Van Anh); "Peaceful thoughts in Nguyen Binh Khiem's ​​Nom poetry" (group of authors from the Institute of Han - Nom)...

Many experts and scientists participated in the scientific workshop "Identifying and evaluating the text of the work of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem".

The presentations provided many important findings on copyright, variants, ideological and artistic values ​​of the works, and at the same time contributed to more clearly defining the system of Trang Trinh's documents in the cultural flow of Vietnam and the region.

The Organizing Committee highly appreciated the intellectual and dedicated contributions of the scientists; at the same time, it requested the Central research agencies to continue supporting the development of the UNESCO dossier. The results achieved will continue to be an important basis for Hai Phong and the scientific community nationwide to complete the dossier to submit to UNESCO, contributing to spreading more deeply the cultural, ideological and academic values ​​of the Cultural Celebrity Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem in contemporary life.
