(PLVN) - When visiting the ancient capital of Hue , in addition to the already famous historical sites and scenic spots, the "Hue Incense Village" in Thuy Xuan ward is an attractive destination that always captivates tourists.
Located more than 7 km southwest of Hue city center, the famous incense-making village of the ancient capital lies on Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street, right on the tourist route to Vong Canh Hill and Tu Duc Mausoleum. According to many elderly villagers, the craft originated during the Nguyen Dynasty, initially serving the worship needs of the court and the people. Over hundreds of years, the village has supplied incense to a large area of central Vietnam.

In recent years, with the increasing and consistent number of tourists throughout the year, households in the village have established workshops to demonstrate the craft, display and promote their products, transforming incense making into an interesting tourist experience. Thanks to its beautiful appearance and deep, pleasant aroma, Thuy Xuan incense is highly favored in worship, spiritual rituals, and is gradually also being used for therapy, relaxation, and feng shui decoration.

Currently, Thuy Xuan incense village still has about 50 households practicing the craft, with 20 of them combining it with tourism. For many years, the village has participated in the Hue Traditional Craft Festivals, promoting the image of a traditional handicraft village and a tourist destination to domestic and international friends. To increase productivity, many households have invested in machinery for splitting cores and rolling incense sticks. Machine-made incense can increase production five to ten times, contributing to increased economic value. However, there are still dedicated artisans who maintain both traditional and handcrafted incense production. Incense comes in a variety of rich fragrances such as cinnamon, lemongrass, jasmine, etc., but the most popular is agarwood incense. Thuy Xuan agarwood incense is produced without harmful chemicals, is safe, and has a distinctive, long-lasting fragrance.
| Ms. Hong Nghia (from Nam Dinh) was very excited because no matter where she stood or sat, she could immediately get stunning, colorful photos. |
To please tourists, the locals and artisans of Thuy Xuan incense-making village, when drying incense sticks and dyeing the bases of incense sticks in many eye-catching colors before rolling and coating them with wet incense powder to create finished incense sticks, often pay attention to meticulously and elaborately arranging the bundles of raw materials with impressive artistic displays.
