On December 12th, the People's Committee of Cao Bang province, in coordination with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, organized the closing ceremony, awards presentation, and opening of the 24th Northern Mountain Region Art Photography Festival with the theme "The Beauty of the Land and People of the Northern Mountain Region".
The festival attracted 1,747 works from 246 authors in the region (Cao Bang, Dien Bien , Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Lang Son, Phu Tho, Son La, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang).
According to photographer Nguyen Xuan Chinh, Head of the Creative Committee of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, the works at the festival by artists and photographers showcase the beauty of the country and people of the northern mountainous region. The works demonstrate the development and maturity of each member in the region. Each festival has revealed many new and promising faces that can contribute to the core ranks of photographic movements nationwide. The regional art photography festival also creates a healthy and beneficial environment for artistic photography, a place where photographers can gather to exchange their skills and techniques.

The award-winning works and exhibitions all reflect real life, a place where historical and cultural traditions, patriotism, and revolution converge; a place that preserves, conserves, and promotes the value of countless precious tangible and intangible cultural heritages with great influence both domestically and internationally. The cultural values in the region have created and continue to create immense internal strength for the area; strongly inspiring patriotism, national self-reliance, creativity, dedication, and the aspiration for national prosperity among the people in the region, in preserving and promoting the national cultural identity of the land and people of the northern mountainous region.
Pham Thanh Thang, Vice Chairman of the Cao Bang Provincial Association of Literature and Arts, said that in recent years, Vietnamese photography has been one of the leading forces on the ideological and cultural front of the Party, always fulfilling its mission of serving the revolution and improving the cultural and spiritual life of the people. Photographic works are an important and practical channel for disseminating the policies and guidelines of the Party and State during the national liberation revolution and the building of the country.

Currently, Vietnamese photography is gradually approaching and asserting its position in the regional and global photography scene. Many photographic works by Vietnamese authors have met the rigorous standards of contemporary photography, thereby winning numerous prestigious photography awards in regional and international exhibitions.
Cao Bang is a mountainous, border province with strong tourism potential, boasting numerous scenic spots, historical relics, and especially the UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark, rich in cultural identity and possessing a diverse and vibrant natural beauty. This serves as a source of inspiration for photographers from all over the country to experience, create, and promote their works, fostering a highly creative team of photographers who contribute to portraying the image of Cao Bang, the revolutionary homeland, conveying messages about the historical and cultural traditions, people, nature, and landscapes of this mountainous region, often likened to a fairytale land…
At the 24th Northern Mountain Region Art Photography Festival, the Organizing Committee selected 136 works by 85 authors for the exhibition; 22 works were awarded prizes. Gold medals were awarded to the works "Conquering and Exploring Ta Xua" (by Tran Trung Hieu, Lao Cai province) and "Smoke and Fire on the Training Ground" (by Do Ngoc Thanh, Phu Tho province).
