The Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority ( Ministry of Transport ) has recently issued a document to relevant units regarding the coordination of aviation operations in foggy and low-cloud conditions at airports in the northern region.
Accordingly, over the past two days, fog and low clouds, resulting in visibility below flight operating standards, have negatively impacted flight operations at airports in the northern region. Many flights have been diverted or delayed.
According to meteorological forecasts, this weather pattern may continue until February 8th, particularly during the night and early morning hours.
To proactively prevent, limit, and minimize the negative impacts of weather developments, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires airlines to proactively monitor weather developments, coordinate closely with airports, air traffic control centers, regional air traffic management companies, and aviation service providers at airports to develop appropriate operational plans and strategies.
At the same time, promptly notify and have a plan in place to serve passengers in case of changes to the transportation schedule.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also requested the Vietnam Airports Corporation and airports affected by the weather to strengthen the deployment of service and operational personnel at the airport, as well as promptly release aircraft and coordinate with airlines to implement handling plans in case operations are affected by weather impacts.
