Scene of the Leno bridge pier collapse causing division in Khe Tre commune

Chairman of Khe Tre Commune People's Committee Duong Thanh Phuoc informed: Leno Bridge crosses Huu Trach River, connecting Hamlet 1 with Hamlet 3 of Khe Tre Commune (formerly residential group 1 of the old Khe Tre town and Hamlet 3 of the old Huong Phu Commune). Due to heavy rain, the strong water flow from upstream changed the flow, causing landslides leading to the collapse of the Leno Bridge pier about 20m long at noon of the same day, separating the two villages above.

According to Mr. Duong Thanh Phuoc, the day after the incident, the local authorities organized forces to put up warning lines, fence off the dangerous area and assigned forces to be on duty there to prevent people from passing through and approaching the area at risk of landslides. At the same time, they guided people to take another detour and advised people not to go out during extreme weather and heavy rain.

Many dangerous landslides have been recorded in Khe Tre commune. Local authorities have organized the evacuation of people to safe places. The impact of the floods has also caused a loss of phone signal in the old Nam Dong district, making it difficult to direct flood response.
