| Mr. Bau's garden area suffered severe landslides. |
The entire garden and part of the land around Mr. Bau's house were eroded and swept away into the river, directly threatening the lives and property of people in the area.
This area is located directly downstream of and in direct contact with the floodgates of Ta Trach Lake, so whenever there is heavy rain, water from the lake flows in very strongly, causing serious erosion. In recent days, due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, the river water level has risen rapidly, and the strong current has weakened the soil around the residential area, causing landslides.
According to the leaders of Phu Bai ward, the river water is currently rising and continuing to rise rapidly , preventing authorities from accessing the scene to measure and specifically quantify the depth and length of the landslide. However, initial observations indicate that the affected area is quite large, with many landslides extending deep inland, directly threatening three households living close to the riverbank.
Due to the dangerous situation, three households, including Mr. Che Quang Bau's family and two neighboring households, were urgently evacuated to a safe location. The Phu Bai ward authorities mobilized militia, police, and community organizations to assist in relocating residents, while also arranging temporary accommodation, food, and essential supplies for the affected households.
To prevent further complications from landslides, Phu Bai ward has conducted inspections, surveys, and compiled a list of 55 households with 178 people to be evacuated to safe locations in Thanh Van, Buong Tam, and Thon Ha villages (formerly Duong Hoa commune), in order to proactively respond to prolonged heavy rain and flooding.
Notably, this landslide-prone area was previously proposed by the former Duong Hoa commune to the former Huong Thuy town for relocation and resettlement of households living along the riverbank. However, due to various objective reasons, this has not yet been implemented. Now, given the complex situation of climate change and floods, and the increasingly serious risk of landslides, Phu Bai ward is urgently developing a long-term resettlement plan for households in the dangerous area; at the same time, expanding surveys of high-risk riverside areas to promptly provide response solutions.
Local authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant, proactively monitor flood information, and refrain from returning to landslide-prone areas without permission to ensure the safety of lives and property.
