Military Region 5 inspects and directs in flood areas

Faced with the complicated flood situation in the western area of Da Nang city, on October 27, Military Region 5 established a working group led by Colonel Nguyen Van Hoa - Deputy Chief of Staff of the Military Region, to directly inspect and direct the work of flood prevention, control and overcoming consequences in Tra My commune.
According to preliminary reports, from the night of October 25 to October 27, prolonged heavy rains caused water levels in rivers such as Tum River (Lanh Ngoc Commune), Tien River (Tien Phuoc), Tranh River (Nam Tra My), Truong River (Tra My), Thu Bon River (Hiep Duc) to rise. Many roads in the western communes were eroded, some areas were completely cut off. Up to now, Tra My has recorded 30 landslides on national highways, inter-commune and inter-village roads and 13 flooded areas.
Military Region 5 mobilized agencies, units and nearly 40 officers, soldiers and specialized vehicles of Brigade 270 to the scene to provide support.

At the inspection, Colonel Nguyen Van Hoa requested agencies and units to quickly complete preparations, deploy forces urgently every hour and every minute to reach the people as soon as possible; assign leaders and commanders in charge of each area, proactively grasp the situation, and closely coordinate with forces to ensure effective work in preventing, combating and overcoming the consequences of floods.
As soon as the heavy rain occurred, the Defense Command of Region 3 - Tra My coordinated with functional forces to promptly evacuate and relocate 377 households with 1,559 people to a safe place, contributing to limiting damage caused by floods.
Police work through the night to help people cope with floods

In the communes of Lanh Ngoc, Thang Phu, Son Cam Ha and Hai Van ward, the local police force coordinated with the military , militia and local authorities to set up barriers and stretch warning ropes at deeply flooded areas; clear fallen trees, clear sewers and guide people to move to safe areas. Many households in low-lying areas at risk of landslides were assisted in evacuating people and property, limiting damage.
On the night of October 26 and the morning of October 27, in the areas of Vu Gia, Thu Bon and Thuong Duc communes, water continued to rise, causing localized flooding on many inter-commune roads and residential areas. The police organized rescue operations throughout the night, assisted people in moving, bringing assets and livestock to safety, put up warning signs, stood by at landslide-prone areas, and were ready to respond when the floods continued to develop complicatedly.
On routes 40B, 14E, 14B, 14D and Ho Chi Minh road through Lo Xo pass, heavy rain caused landslides, causing hundreds of vehicles to be stuck. Local police coordinated with traffic police and militia to mobilize machinery, open temporary roads, and guide vehicles to move safely. On the morning of October 27, the commune police distributed drinking water, instant noodles, and bread to drivers and people stuck on the pass.

In mountainous communes such as Tra Leng, Tra Linh, Phuoc Thanh, La Dee, Hai Van, heavy rains isolated many villages. Police assisted in evacuating hundreds of people, mainly the elderly, women and children, to safety.
Currently, local police forces continue to maintain a constant on-duty mode, closely following weather developments, proactively developing two-way response plans, controlling traffic at flooded areas, and preparing forces and vehicles to support evacuation and moving people out of dangerous areas, contributing to ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.
