According to a cooperation agreement between the former Khanh Hoa province and the Vietnam Film Association, the Golden Kite Awards ceremony will be held annually in September in Khanh Hoa to enhance the promotion of the province as a cultural and tourist destination. The first time the Golden Kite Awards were held in Khanh Hoa was in 2022, after a period of interruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 2025 also marks the fourth consecutive year that Khanh Hoa has hosted the Golden Kite Awards. Previous editions held in Nha Trang have had a positive effect, promoting the brand: "Khanh Hoa – a destination for art and tourism".
Last June, Khanh Hoa province announced that the 2025 Golden Kite Awards ceremony is tentatively scheduled to take place in December 2025. However, to date, the official date for the awards ceremony has not been announced due to unresolved issues, particularly regarding funding and new regulations related to awarding prizes from the state budget.
One of the biggest issues preventing the awards ceremony from being finalized right now is the inability to approve the prize money allocation.
According to the Vietnam Film Association, the competent financial authority has not yet authorized the disbursement of prize money from the State budget for the award categories of the Central Literature and Arts Associations in 2025, including the Golden Kite Awards.
This means that, unless the issue is resolved, the winning works and artists of the Golden Kite Awards will only receive the trophy and certificate without the accompanying prize money (as is customary).
This is a perplexing situation for the organizing committee, because the award is not only a tribute but also a material and spiritual incentive for artists who are tirelessly dedicating themselves to the development of the country's film and television arts.
The organizing committee affirms that, although the official schedule cannot yet be announced, preparations for the 2025 Golden Kite Awards are proceeding without delay. All plans are being meticulously considered to ensure the award maintains its professional quality.

Vietnamese cinema is at a point where it needs more momentum to continue its strong development after the milestones achieved by Vietnamese films in 2025 with historical "records": the film " Red Rain " grossed over 700 billion VND, and " Battle in the Air " is also close to reaching 250 billion VND. The Golden Kite Awards are always considered by industry professionals as a "spiritual launching pad" and a measure of the value of outstanding works each year.
The fact that the official date for the awards ceremony has not yet been announced is causing concern among artists in the industry. They hope that the Golden Kite Awards will not only be about trophies on stage, but also about recognizing creative value; promoting the development of art; and bridging the gap between artworks and the public.
Artists who have participated in previous Golden Kite Awards also expressed their hope that this year's awards will continue to be held. Actress Le Phuong said: "Being named at the Golden Kite Awards is always a proud moment for those in the profession. I hope the award will continue to provide creative motivation for artists in film and television."

The Golden Kite Awards were first held in 2002. The award's objectives are to summarize filmmaking activities in order to encourage artistic creativity; to honor national identity in artistic expression; and to spread works rich in humanistic values and positive to society.
Accordingly, the awards have a diverse structure, including seven categories of works that receive awards: feature films, television series, short films, animated films, documentaries, scientific films, and research, theory, and criticism works on film and television. Individual awards for key creative components include: Golden Kite, Silver Kite, and certificates of merit for the most outstanding works.
Hopefully, once the financial issues are resolved, the 2025 Golden Kite Awards will return to live up to the expectations of the public and the industry.
