Barcelona are closing in on the signing of Marcus Rashford from Manchester United on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy. Negotiations are in the final stages and all three parties – Barcelona, Manchester United and Rashford – have agreed in principle, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Catalan club have pledged to pay Rashford’s entire current salary (around £325,000/week) during the loan period. This will significantly reduce the Red Devils’ wage bill, while still giving Rashford the opportunity to find his inspiration in a new environment.
The 27-year-old striker is said to be very eager to join Barcelona. He recently expressed his biggest wish to play alongside Lamine Yamal. Sporting director Deco has been closely monitoring the form and situation of the English striker for many months. In June, Rashford's brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard, was also present in Barcelona to negotiate.
Barcelona are looking for a versatile winger who can play in multiple positions across the front line, especially on the left flank. Coach Hansi Flick has spoken directly to Rashford and supports the plan to bring him to the team.
Previously, Barcelona had approached Nico Williams but failed, when the Spanish player decided to extend his contract with Bilbao until 2035. The deal for Luis Diaz from Liverpool also came to a dead end when the English team was determined to keep the Colombian star.
“We need more quality options on the wings,” Flick said in May. “That’s something I’ve discussed with the club. Luis Diaz and Rashford are both excellent players. I rate them highly. Let’s see what happens.”

Rashford has not played for Man Utd since the Europa League match against Viktoria Plzen in December last year. He was left out of the squad by coach Ruben Amorim for the 2-1 win over Man City shortly after. Since then, Rashford has not been recalled to the Man Utd first team due to irreconcilable conflicts with the Portuguese strategist. Although Rashford still has a contract until 2028, he is soon on Man Utd's clearance list.
On July 8, Rashford returned to the Carrington training center to practice but did not join the team.
Last season, Rashford played on loan at Aston Villa from January. He scored 4 goals in 17 games under coach Unai Emery. However, a hamstring injury in April forced him to miss the last 4 games of the season and was dropped from the England squad.
Marcus Rashford has now made 426 appearances and scored 138 goals since his Man Utd debut in 2015. Although he was once an icon at Old Trafford, he is now truly preparing for a new chapter in his career, with Barcelona at Camp Nou.
