The Ministry of Education and Training announced that the format of the high school graduation exam paper will change this year. Previously, when the university entrance exam was organized in clusters, the candidate's registration number included both letters and numbers. However, recently, the registration number only includes numbers, but the exam paper still includes a note stating, "Candidates must write both letters and numbers." According to the Departments of Education and Training, this has caused confusion for many candidates.

Mr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Quality Management Department (Ministry of Education and Training), said that starting from this year's exam, the Ministry will revise the essay exam paper template for the high school graduation exam.

According to Mr. Chuong, in response to requests from provincial Departments of Education and Training to avoid confusion for candidates, the Ministry has issued a new essay exam paper template, removing the note that "candidates must write both letters and numbers." Candidates only need to write their registration number correctly.

For the multiple-choice answer sheet, the Ministry of Education and Training retains the old format. The Ministry instructs that candidates should keep the answer sheet flat, free from stains, creases, or tears; and fill in all sections 1 to 8 completely and clearly. The registration number in section 7 should be the last 6 digits.

In sections 7 and 8, in addition to writing the digits in the blank spaces, candidates must also fill in the circles in the number table below corresponding to the digits they have written.

In the answer section, the numbering of the answer options (A, B, C, D) corresponds to the order of the multiple-choice questions in the exam. For each multiple-choice question, the candidate selects and fills in one circle corresponding to the answer option they believe is correct.

The 2024 high school graduation exam will be held on June 26th, 27th, 28th, and 29th, consisting of four subjects: Mathematics, Literature, English, and a combined subject (Natural Sciences or Social Sciences). All subjects will be multiple-choice, except for Literature, which will be essay-based. On June 26th, candidates will complete the registration procedures. On June 27th and 28th, candidates will take the high school graduation exam. June 29th will be the reserve exam day.

The results of the high school graduation exam are expected to be announced at 8:00 AM on July 17th. Following this, localities will proceed with the graduation assessment for exam-taking students and use the exam results for university and college admissions according to the enrollment plan.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, this year there are 1,067,391 candidates registered to take the exam online (compared to 1,024,063 in 2023). Of these, 45,344 are independent candidates (compared to 37,841 in 2023).

In 2023, out of approximately one million candidates, 98.88% passed, the highest rate since 2015. Of these, more than 546,000 applied for university admission.
