American "Invincible" Floyd Mayweather brawled with John Gotti III after the referee stopped the match in the sixth round of their fight on June 12.
Mayweather has been a regular exhibition fighter since retiring in 2017. The American's latest opponent is John Gotti III, a former MMA fighter with only two professional boxing matches to his name. He is better known as the nephew of John Gotti, the notorious boss of the Gambino crime family.

British newspaper Sportmail commented that the fight in Florida on June 12 turned into a WWE Royal Rumble match with a fierce brawl in the sixth round. In the first five rounds, with his superior level, Mayweather dominated, had many accurate punches and even continuously mocked his opponent. One commentator described John Gotti III's performance as "powerless".
Between rounds, the referee reminded Gotti III's corner to stop his provocative and abusive words aimed at Mayweather. By round six, referee Kenny Bayless judged that Gotti III was no longer able to continue fighting and waved his hand to stop the match, awarding Mayweather the technical knockout victory.
Gotti III was not satisfied with this decision, tried to get around the referee and continued to throw punches at Mayweather. The American boxer raised his arms in defense and then threw a left hook to the face, forcing Gotti III to retreat to the middle of the ring. At this time, members of both teams and the organizing committee, including nearly 50 people, climbed into the ring and created a chaotic scene.

After the fight, Gotti III's sister Nicolette threatened Mayweather's daughter, posting a message on Instagram that the feud between the American boxer and her brother was not over. Likewise, Gotti III insisted that the feud between the two would not end, and called on legend Conor McGregor for help. He also criticized referee Bayless for stopping the fight early when it was still possible to continue.
Mayweather is one of the greatest boxers of all time, having won titles in five different weight classes. He has also fought four of the five most expensive fights in history, against Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor. The fight against Pacquiao alone reportedly earned Mayweather $300 million.
Announcing his retirement in 2015, Mayweather broke the rules and returned in August 2017 to fight McGregor and reach the 50-match winning streak in his professional career. Before that, he won a bronze medal in the featherweight division at the 1996 Olympics, three Golden Gloves titles and won the national amateur boxing championship as an amateur.
